John Paul Hunt IV passed away in Mission Viejo, CA. on Sunday, March 24, 2024 after a short, yet courageous battle with cancer. He was 64 years old and will be missed deeply. John is survived by his wife of 38 years Patty, his sons John V and Alex Robert, and by his beloved (favorite) daughter Emily. John was overjoyed to be able to welcome his grandson Turner John in January.
John was born and raised in California. He (and Patty) are proud graduates of Humboldt State University where he was able to cultivate his love for Geology. John spent 40 years providing Geotechnical Services throughout Orange County and loved every minute of it. He spent the first part of his career at Stoney Miller Consultants until opening his own consulting business JP Hunt Geotechnical where he truly flourished. His knowledge and passion for the area will be missed by many.
If John was not out studying the local soils, he was living his dream on one of his many mountain bikes experiencing the freedom and beauty of the area. He enjoyed riding with OC Outdoors and racing with the Over the Hump group at Irvine Lake. He loved the competition, but mostly, he thrived on challenging himself to always do his personal best. He really did “leave it all on the trails”.
A celebration of life for John will be held Friday, April 19, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 5:15 PM at Fairhaven Memorial Services, 27856 Center Drive, Mission Viejo, California 92692, followed by a reception from 5:15 PM to 8:00 PM.
