Lewis Allevato lived a full and happy life, indeed. He was the eldest of four brothers, born to Sam and Mary Allevato, in West Virginia, on June 27, 1927. Although he came from modest beginnings, his life was enriched with a loving family and many friends. In the early 1950’s, he joined the Army and that service brought him west to California, where he lived out the rest of his days.
Lewis owned and operated a delicatessen, Luigi’s Deli, in Montebello for more than 30 years. He was very active in Italian American organizations and had many life long friends. Lou, as he was known to most, met and married Lucille Allevato and they had three children, Cecilia, Joe and Angela. He was fiercely loyal to his family and was an amazing father, son, brother, uncle and friend. He will sorely be missed as the patriarch of his family.
He is proceeded in death by his wife, Lucille, his son, Joseph, and his in-law, Dale. He is survived by his girls, Cecilia and Angela and their children, Alex, Victoria, Olivia and Abby and his one great-grandchild, Evelyn.
