Lolita was born in San Diego on January 30, 1947. She was a proud graduate of San Diego City College and San Diego State. Her degree in Criminal Justice was put to good use as she dedicated her life to the community and it's youth. Lolita championed many projects, was known for her tireless energy and made a positive impact on the lives of so many during her 30+ years at the San Diego County Probation Department until her retirement in 2002.
Lolita had been involved in many nonprofits throughout her career and after her retirement, she continued her service in the community through countless hours of volunteering and mentoring; focusing on education and health awareness.
She drew her power and passion for living from her faith and love of her family. Lolita was a dedicated mother and grandmother. The last decade of her life was spent mainly in Orange County living with her daughter, Monica, son-in-law, Gabriel, and their three children being known to all as "Nana Lolita". She became a staple in the daily lives of her grandchildren while volunteering at their schools, attending special events and activities, helping with homework, going on vacations, and shuttling everyone around. Making sure everyone was taken care of was what kept her going. Many people weren't aware of her medical condition but were inspired by her when learning of her survivorship. Her life and legacy will be her strength and courage that serves as an example to all.
She is survived by her daughter, Monica Porchas and husband, Gabriel; dear friend and companion, George Vasquez; sisters, Consuelo Pasquali and Carmen Wagner; three grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and cousins; numerous loving relatives, coworkers, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Margaret Villegas.
Lolita was grateful for her survivorship team which included her family, friends, community, priests and physicians. Memorial contributions may be made in name of Lolita Lizárraga Memorial to Holy Trinity Catholic Church 1600 Corporate Dr. Ladera Ranch, CA 92694.
