It's with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather on November 4, 2019. His ambition, strong-will, humor & wanderlust spirit will be dearly remembered by all. January 7, 1929 - November 4, 2019

Dr. Lucito G. Gamboa was born on January 7, 1929 in Santa Ana, Pampanga, Philippines. He sailed over to the United States in 1952 & spent his fondest years in Oak Brook, Illinois.

Dr. Gamboa was a prominent & well respected, practicing Pathologist for 36 years. He was only 29 years old when he was appointed Chairman & Director of Laboratories at Edgewater Hospital, Chicago, Illinois for 20 years. He was Director of Blood Bank & Chief Surgical Pathologist at Little Company of Mary Hospital, Evergreen Park, Illinois for 10 years. He went into retirement, but later decided to accept an offer to become Chairman of Pathology & Director of Laboratories at Central Valley General Hospital, Hanford, California for 6 years.

Dr. Gamboa was certified in the American Board of Pathology, in both Anatomical & Clinical Pathology and Immunohematology & Blood Banking. He had a Master of Science from the University of Colorado & a degree from the Institute of Nuclear Studies in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

Dr. Gamboa was the Founder & First President of APPPA (Association of Philippine Practicing Physicians in America). He was an inspiration & model to young physicians from the Philippines by guiding & paving the way for themto practice medicine in the USA.

Dr. Gamboa went by the nicknames, “Lu” & “Baka.” He had an appetite for Chinese food, a love for photography & was an avid traveler, having been to 130 countries. He was a huge fan of basketball, played tennis for 35 years & when he finally retired inSouthern California, he picked up golf.

Dr. Gamboa is survived by his wife, Sylvia Roque Gamboa, who were blissfully married for 66 years; their 3 children, Richard R. Gamboa, Ginny L. Majer & Debbie G. Jorgensen; 4 grandchildren, Dani L. Majer-Ventura, Mikey D. Majer,Alyssa M. Gamboa & Bree R. Gamboa.
