MARGARET RUTH FAIRBANKS at age 78.
She passed away May 22, 2021. Her passing was at home following an extended period of illness. Margaret was born October 10, 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri to Maxine and Howard Thiehoff. The family soon relocated to Los Angeles, California during the early war years.
After high school and post training in Dental School, Margaret, or “Maggie” at times, worked as a Dental Assistant for the Veterans Administration in Westwood for a number of years. She then was able to work for a dentist in a Beverly Hills practice that had a second office within the MGM Studios which provided numerous one-on-one meetings with some of Hollywood’s “A-List” past and present in Beverly Hills.
A chance blind date meeting was with her to be husband Richard Fairbanks. Providing her now with a new page in life. After a couple years dating came marriage to Richard. Margaret changed work experience to Executive Secretary to Sr. VP of Engineering for an aerospace subcontractor. With early retirement “Maggie” dedicated her efforts and acquired organizational skills to supporting her husband in his company as it grew.
After a little over 49 years of marriage, a partnership in life together, shared challenges, tears, joy, mutual recognition, it came time to rest. A truly sad moment and heavy loss to her husband, Richard, as well as those who were fortunate to come into her “circle of life.”
Memorial service is to be announced at a later date. Interment will be in Cambria, California.
“Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep”
a poem by Mary Elizabeth Frye
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am in a thousand winds that blow,
I am the softly falling snow.
I am the gentle showers of rain,
I am the fields of ripening grain.
I am in the morning hush,
I am in the graceful rush
Of beautiful birds in circling flight,
I am the starshine of the night.
I am in the flowers that bloom,
I am in a quiet room.
I am in the birds that sing,
I am in each lovely thing.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there. I do not die.
