Margaret Lee (Marty) was born July 24, 1945, in Washington D.C. Her father, Merl Hall, was stationed with the Navy in Virginia and there he met Marty’s mother, Margaret (Peggy) German. When Marty was one year old, they moved to Ames, Oklahoma, where Merl’s family owned farms.
Marty grew up on their farms in Oklahoma and attended twelve years at Ames Schools, where she was active in FHS, school plays, played sports and was a cheerleader. She graduated with honors and attended Oklahoma State University.
She married Jim Scott and they were transferred to Minneapolis and various cities with his job at Conoco Oil Company, finally being transferred to Newport Beach, California, in 1972. They were later divorced.
Marty met Ed Lackey in 1976 and he soon became her best friend and the love of her life. They lived in Orange County and happily moved to San Diego when Ed’s company relocated there in 1984. They were married in 1990, at a ceremony on San Diego Bay, and celebrated their 30th Wedding Anniversary in 2020. They loved to travel and traveled the world. Marty especially loved Paris and celebrated her 65th birthday at the Eiffel Tower. They resided in San Marcos 35 years and loved living there. In 2019, they bought their new forever home in a 55+ community in Temescal Valley.
Marty worked all her life beginning with helping her family on the farms and at an early age of 10 at a vegetable stand where she learned the value of earning her own money. She always had summer jobs. She moved to Enid (a larger city) and started her career at a high-end clothing store as a bookkeeper to pay for her college. It was perfect for Marty… clothes and numbers (her favorites.) After moving to California, she worked at various positions always working hard and moving up the ladder. Her most memorable and fun position was with Daon Corporation where she got to experience the world of money with Lear jet trips to Las Vegas and outlandish parties. She still has lifelong friends from there. She retired as an Officer with JP Morgan Chase in 2014.
Marty is preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Helen and Ivan Hall, and her parents, Merl and Peggy Hall and her step-granddaughter, Janice Camacho.
