It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of María Luz García, on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 in Mission Viejo, CA at the age of 69. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering devotion that will forever be cherished by her family and all who knew her.
Born on August 10, 1954, Luz was a woman of faith, principle and dedication. She faced life's challenges with grace and resilience, including the profound loss of her first husband, Jesus. Despite the heartache of widowhood, she remained a pillar of strength for her family, guiding them with a firm yet loving hand and tireless Christian example.
In time, María found love again and remarried, embracing a new chapter with the same commitment and care she had always shown. Her devotion to her family, both from her first marriage and her second, was evident in everything she did. She was a strict but loving mother, always ensuring that her children grew up with strong values and a deep sense of responsibility.
María was known for her unwavering discipline, which was balanced by a deep and abiding love for God and those close to her. She believed in the importance of doing things the right way and instilled this belief in her children, who will carry her lessons with them throughout their lives.
Most recently she courageously battled breast cancer and suffered heart disease, but she did not quit or get bitter; instead her steadfast faith sustained her until the very end.
Known as “Luzita” by family and friends, María is survived by her life partner/husband Jose de los Santos San Lucas, son Jesse Basurto, Daughter-in-law Rocio Luna, Daughter Sylvia Basurto Paiz, Son-in-law Marvin Paiz, her Grandson Samuel Basurto, her sister Socorrito García, her Brother Moises García, sister-in-law Socorro García, several nieces and nephews and a many extended family and friends who will continue to honor her memory and the values she so strongly upheld.
The family invites you to honor María’s memory by grieving her passing with the understanding that her life was a testament to the power of faith in God, love, perseverance, and the importance of family. Not as those without hope, but as those with unwavering assurance in the promise of resurrection through Jesus Christ, as stated in John 11:25-26: “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die.”
While her presence will be deeply missed, it is this hope we hold onto until we see Luzita again.
