Biography

With Patrick, only the challenging twinkle in his eye gave clue to his impetuous, constant teasing. Always one to keep friends and family on their toes he loving challenged the norm and those around him would have to filter humor from truth. To everyone he seemed to be eternally happy, and he willingly shared that joy and humor with anyone whose life he touched. For Patrick, bringing out the best in any situation was as easy as offering a smile or a witty remark. And with just those simple gestures, he could evoke the most pleasant of emotions. Patrick really mastered the art of living and had great fun in doing so.

Patrick was born on March 31, 1939 at Cottage Hospital in San Rafael, California. His parents were Daniel and Eleanore Sheehan. Patrick was raised in the Lucerne Valley and Altadena, California. Even as a child, Patrick had the ability to lift the spirits of all those around him. Patrick and his sister were raised by his mother which developed in him an independent and resourceful character. He couldn’t help but capture everyone’s attention. He was definitely a little bit of a show off, but in doing so, he succeeded in entertaining those around him.

All of Patrick's playful good humor carried over into his adulthood. He was blessed with an outgoing personality, a lively imagination and enthusiasm for life. He enjoyed college life: surfing in Hawaii while he attended the University of Hawaii and loving his time at University of Southern California .

On November 30, 1974 Patrick exchanged wedding vows with Linda Owens at Community Church Congregational, Corona del Mar, CA. Linda and Patrick lived in Irvine, California for forty-five years. They attended St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. They enjoyed raising their son and then began traveling as much as possible. Ireland was their favorite destination and they returned there several times. Patrick and Linda made many cherished memories together and loved every minute they could be together. Meeting many special friends along the way, they still stayed connected with people from the US, New Zealand and Ireland.

Patrick was blessed with one son, Michael Patrick Sheehan. Patrick treasured every moment spent with Michael. Getting Michael ready and off to school everyday created a special father-son time. He attended all of Michael's games even trying their luck at fishing. Patrick relished many proud moments as Michael received many awards and recognition growing up. With the marriage of Michael to Christy Condon in 2011, Patrick and Linda were soon blessed with two granddaughters, Reese and Caitlin. Patrick adored his granddaughters and his extended family. He knew Michael had found a wonderful wife in Christy and he was comforted by that. Many cherished moments were then spent with Michael, Christy and the girls. Never missing his son's games, he continued this passion by attending his granddaughter's games.

At work, as in life, Patrick was a real “people person.” He had a very successful way of dealing effectively with others, and his enthusiasm and energy was often contagious. When dealing with various projects and problems he was therefore successful in his career. He enjoyed working in sales for Squibb Pharmaceuticals, Marriott Industries, Walker & Lee and Builder Sales.

Patrick enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. His favorite pursuits were golf, traveling, gardening, and attending Angels baseball games. He spent time in retirement as marshall on a golf course and he and Linda had season tickets to the Los Angeles Angels Baseball team for more than thirty years.

In high school, Patrick played baseball and participated in the band. In his college years, Patrick continued to stay active by surfing and working his way through school. Recreational sports included golf and tennis. Patrick was also something of a sports fan and enjoyed watching his favorite events whenever he got the opportunity. Tops on his list were watching USC football and golf.

As stated above, it is no surprise that he loved to travel and to visit new and different places. He was naturally curious about other parts of the world and loved the real life adventure that came from visiting them. He was impulsive and willing to try anything once. Favorite vacations included traveling to Ireland, experiencing Africa, New Zealand, and cruising internationally .

Patrick believed that you had to experience life, and his life in retirement was no different. When that day finally arrived in 2000, Patrick took it in stride as one more way to have fun. With his boundless energy and a desire to get the most out of life, Patrick remained busy with people and projects. In retirement, he therefore traveled and spent time with family and friends, especially enjoying his granddaughters. And even in retirement, Patrick continued to stay in touch with his old friends and, since he'd never met a stranger, he made plenty of new acquaintances as well..

Patrick brought joy to all of those around him. He loved to have a good time and was an eternal optimist, always looking on the bright side of things. He loved to share his energy, wit, and his zest for all of his activities with his friends and family. Patrick Timothy Sheehan lived life to its fullest and made everyone around him happier just for knowing him. He will be remembered with a smile.

Patrick passed away on March 21, 2021 at home with family. He will be forever loved and missed. Services will be held at Arroyo Trabuco Golf Course on May 7 at 2:00 PM.
