Philip Saber Saif was born in Minya in Upper Egypt on August 18, 1929. Philip grew up as the middle son among three brothers. The closeness that marked their relationship would carry throughout Philip’s life.
At any early age, Philip became involved in the life of his church. This would be the start of what would always be a focus for Philip who spent much time with his brothers and friends in youth groups and church meetings. Bible study was always a passion for Philip, and he immersed himself in scripture as his relationship with Jesus grew. His love of scripture and his leadership abilities provided a foundation for further involvement in church ministry in various roles.
Philip studied education at the American University in Cairo before going on to the United States to complete his Masters and PhD at Trinity College and University of Connecticut. He exceled in his vocation and enjoyed many professional opportunities before settling into a professorship at Gallaudet University in Washington DC. It was during this time that Philip married Aida Antoun and made their home in Maryland. Upon retiring, Philip and Aida moved from Washington DC to Mission Viejo, California where he spent the remainder of his retirement years.
On November 18, 2020, Philip was called home to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. He is predeceased by his wife Aida and older brother Joseph. He is survived by his brother Albert, his extended family and friends who will greatly miss him.
