September 17, 1935 -- March 2, 2022
The family of Phillip Wheeler announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend late in the evening of March 2, 2022.
Phillip was born to Irene Jane Miller and Charles Frederick Wheeler on September 17, 1935. He is survived by his wife Pamela (Pam), daughter Alyssa Membrila, son Steven Wheeler, and stepson Glenn Tomasyan. Phil has 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Beryle Brock and Meredythe Crawford. Phil grew up in the San Bernardino area and immediately after high school, he commenced his two years of active service in the US Navy. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree in 1963 from Cal Poly - SLO. He began his career with Southern California Edison in 1963, and then completed his Masters Degree in Engineering at USC in 1971. Phil was very active in IEEE, achieving Life Senior Member status and numerous other awards. His consulting practice – Power Engineering Consultants - offered utility companies, law firms and other professional organizations the benefit of his knowledge in electrical engineering as well as arson investigation.
He was involved in church activities with Pam, and was in Small Fellowship Groups his entire adult life. He played golf with fellow colleagues, mens’ tennis every Saturday morning, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Throughout his life, Phil remained a humble, kind, gentle-spirited man who adored his wife and family. After his retirement from SCE, he and Pam traveled to more than 40 countries and created many wonderful memories.
