Although we've never spoken. I still want to remember Rey as a kind hearted, funny and energetic person. Always showing support towards others and making the world a better place. 5 years later, buddy. Your still remembered and you always will be. Rest In Peace.

Rey, when I think of Rey I think of light. It doesn’t matter which day of the week it was, Rey was always walking around with this huge, bright, perfect smile. One look at that smile and you had no choice but to smile. Don’t even get me started on that laugh though. Rey’s laugh was the most contagious laugh you’ll ever hear. I’ve known Rey since 7th grade but I didn’t talk that much till summer going into Junior year. Rey would wait for me most lunches by my class after 5th, and then we would walk to whoever’s car we were going to sit in. We both didn’t have our drivers lisence in the beginning of the school year, but he knew what day my test was on and he texted me that morning saying that if I failed he isn’t buying me Del taco at lunch. And then I picked him up at lunch after I passed and he bought me Del Taco. Regardless of how Rey’s day looked, he was always there for anyone whenever anyone needed him. Rey made a huge impact on everyones lives around him, but Gods not done with Rey. Since Rey has passed away, he’s brought people together. We miss you Rey, more than words can describe. 

Thinking back to so many memories of Rey since he and Dom became friends back in 1st grade, I am grateful for the beautiful soul Rey has always been.  A respectful, happy, little guy who displayed his heart of gold, a kid who I was happy to see around school whether I was dropping the kids off, or helping in the classroom, and just hearing Dom speak of him.  My favorite most recent memory... dropping Dom off for the ASB Camp; Rey running to our car, so happy to greet my son, huge bright smile, and he peeks his head in the window saying... "Good morning Mrs. Jara!", super energetic and as I am giving my "Do and Dont's" to Dom, he says (so reassuring), "Don't worry , Don' t worry, Mrs. Jara, I'm going to take good care of him!",  In the moment, I laughed and said.. "alright, you take care of him"., driving away alone  I'm smiling thinking about the great time I knew they'd all have, thinking about Rey being so adorable in giving me words of comfort.  The irony is... today those very words are played repeatedly in my head, and I have zero doubts that Rey is indeed "Taking care of him".  They are words that have brought me tears repeatedly in the last several months... and today, in the midst of my broken heart, they bring me comfort.  Rey has left such an impact on his peers, his family, and those of us who were lucky enough to have gotten to know him... God has called him home, I know he is enjoying all of God's promised glory as he deserves.  We Love you Rey!  Always in our hearts, Until we meet again... 

Wow I’m not sure where to start because I never thought one bit, that it would come down to doing this for REY. But all I could say about this amazing boy is that you made me laugh and made our friendship so incredibly enjoyable because of our goofy moments we shared with one another. It will not be the same without you, but I will make with what I have and that is with you watching from above. I’m gonna walk every step on this earth knowing you are my new angel watching over me to make me smile lil bro....  Rest easy my friend♥️

Rey, the most down to Earth, loving, charismatic boy on this planet. He is everything good in the world. He always had a smile on his face no matter what. Always made people laugh not only with his silly jokes, but with his contagious laugh. Never failed to make someone happy. Bringing joy to everyone was something that came naturally to him. I have many memories with Rey. My absolute favorite was a bonfire at the beach. We stayed at the beach all day and had an absolute blast. We played volleyball, went swimming, had great conversation and of course stuffed our faces with food. It was my favorite because we all hung out and had the best time. Just sitting at the beach all day. It is amazing to see just how many people Rey impacted with his life. Always taking care of others and always making you feel special. I know that for me, Rey was someone I could lean on always- he was that for everyone. Thank you Rey, for absolutely everything. For shining light on everyone’s life and for being you. You mean the world to me as well as others. I miss you and I love you. My deepest condolences go out to the Ramos Family. Thank you for having the most amazing son. With love, Emma. 

Reynold man... I don’t think I can even pinpoint one memory with this boy; this sweet, loving, generous, joyful, positive boy. Every time I would see him I would say “Reyyyyynolddd” and he’d smile and reply “Heyyy Shapiro.” Any time he could tell I was stressed, or if we had a big project, Rey never failed to give me a little pat on the back with a “Thanks, Shapiro.” The way he would make everyone feel so welcome and loved and that they mattered... it is everything. Not one bad word can be said about him, truly. I’ll never forget, this one time in ASB Nguyen had us do this roast session where we could say anything to anyone and us being sophomores at the time, didn’t end up saying anything. I remember right after the bell rang, he called my name and asked if we could talk at the beginning of lunch... I was scared out of my mind that he was gonna roast me for something because I just didn’t know what to expect. So we met at lunch, and this boy thanked me for all the work I put into asb and that he recognized all that I did. That day, I always think about. The fact that he felt the need to do that, dang. I needed that as well. But i think my favorite and what I’m missing most is his little looks he would give me. Whether that would be at an ASB meeting when it was time to give updates of how the class is doing to figure out who would say it or when we needed to figure out the people for a class comp or walking by each other during passing period. His little chest pump and how he would pucker up his lips and nod and just giggle after. Anything that had to do with our class and winning and 2020, he was always so ready to be the best, and we are going to continue to be the best for our Rey. I love you Rey, miss you tons. It’s been hard not having you here, but I know you would want us to go as hard as we can, and don’t worry Reynold, we will. We are continuing your incredible legacy. I, and so many others, are making sure of it. I love you, forever.

awww rey babe, ever since I’ve moved to El Toro everyone has been so sweet, but rey especially, was someone special. he was one of the first people I met and became close with, especially with pia and red. We would bond over many things and have our laughs and cries. Rey was always the sweetest boy and I always tried setting him up with girls but rey deserved someone as amazing as himself. Which is pretty hard to find. He would always call me beautiful whether it was passing eachother in the hallways or just talking to him and I’d appreciate him so much for that. he was also one of the few people I would go to for advice or just tell him about my day/life and how things are going. He always knew what to say and gave me the most warm hugs that lasted forever. I miss rey so much and I would kill for a hug from him rn. I bet him if he won hoco king senior year, I would give him a kiss and I promised to also take him to Kauai eventually.  Overall rey was genuine and definitely a real one:) Thank you to the Ramos' for everything you’ve done and how close I’ve became with you guys this year. You guys are such a strong, kind, and courageous family and I aspire to be like you guys someday. And if you ever wanna go to kauai hmu!!!

Ever since Pia and I became close friends, Rey has always been like a little brother to me. I always loved messing around with him and bothering him like he was my brother. My favorite thing to do was see him at school because any time I saw him, even if he was across the quad and there were a hundred people between us, I would always yell his name in the most annoying voice possible just to see his reaction. He was always sweet to me and would just say “Hi Jac!” and act like I didn’t just embarrass him in front of whoever he was with. Rey will always hold a special place in my heart and I’ll always consider him the little brother I never had. 

I have known Rey since first grade. We have been friends ever since the day we met in class. He was always so sweet to me and everyone else. It’s crazy to think that after knowing him for the past 11 years that he is gone. My favorite memory of Rey is just all the times in Biology during sophomore year. Gio, Rey and myself would just mess around and have a good time. I know that  now he is in a better place and I will forever love him. 

When Rey and I met back at Serrano, he was such a bright kid, who was always cracking jokes, and always made everyone smile. To this day, I continue to thank the Lord for our friendship. I remember when we were asked if we were cousins or siblings at school. We would both laugh and just play along with it, and he would call me Ate and I would call him bunso, and it would be a nickname that we would always call each other around school. We shared so many inside jokes and shared so many laughs. Every memory that I have with him is just as important as the others. I will never forget the day we became friends and how we became friends. He was one of the most kind, loving, genuine, caring and positive person I've been blessed to have in my life. I cannot thank Rey enough for absolutely everything. His constant love and care for others is something that I strive to have for others. He embodied all the amazing qualities a person could ever have. He had this personality that drew everyone in, with his humor and infectious smile. Our friendship is something that I will carry on with me for the rest of my life. Rey is now walking with Him, playing basketball, cracking jokes, and dancing in Heaven. He fought for so long, and now he's safe. I believe that Rey is watching over us. To the Ramos Family: you all have been so resilient and so strong during this very difficult time, and your son/brother was one of the brightest, sweetest, and one of the most humble people I have ever met. Rey was loved by so many people, and he inspired people to be positive, smile, and to spread love. He will be missed greatly. Rey was truly one of a kind. I pour out all of my love to your family. May you all find peace and happiness during this time. 

Dear Ramos Family, Rey was an absolute angel. We first met in PAL where we worked on continuous projects together and he would also be so kind and funny. We had been friends since then and he sat next to me in Spanish last year and every time I had a volleyball game the night before and he would always say “what’s up Irene, did you get a W last night?” While literally hold up a “W” with his fingers. He always cared so much for his friends and he always had a contagious smile on his face that I will never forget. My favorite memory of Rey would definitely be when I had to make up a math test in the hallway and he walked by and of course said hey and asked what I was doing. So I told him I was making up a test and he stayed with me, basically keeping me company while I was in the hallway taking the test. Even after I finished we both didn’t want to go back to class so we just sat in the hallway talking to each other about volleyball, our weekend plans, and more. I will cherish those moments forever. I keep trying to pinch myself to wake up from this horrible dream because I can’t believe this is real. Rey, you have always been such an amazing friend to me. To Rey and to Rey’s family, I am so sorry for your loss, if you wouldn’t mind I would like to express how I feel about Rey because ever since he passed I have had these thoughts going through my head that I need to express. I haven’t really been close to Rey, the last I’ve spoken to him was in sophomore year in my history class with Ms Amos. But not having contact with him didn’t change the fact on how I cared for him. Rey came up to me one day in freshman year and said “what’s up Jerome!!” Like I was his best friend, and that day alone I always thought of Rey’s character as being the most kindest and generous. He loved to talk to anyone and make friends with everyone he could meet and to me that’s just awesome. Rey was so smart and I believed in his future to be the brightest and most successful because that’s just how great he was. When I heard he was in the hospital, all I could do was hope for the best and I felt strongly he would pull through. Again, i haven’t had much contact with Rey but in all, I will miss him. I wish I could have talked and spent more time with him but all i can do now is pray for him and his loving family and to everyone close to Rey. Everyone coming together for Rey is just amazing and the support is just beautiful. Rey, you were the greatest man and I still believe you are the greatest in heaven. I’m sure god is happy to be with you and your soul is happy with god. Rey, everyone will miss you so much and your name will forever live on with us and especially Sofia San Roman who loves you like a brother. We love you so much Rey and miss you. May you rest brother ✊🏾❤️. 

Dang where do I even start.  Rey was the kind of guy who was there for everyone and always had their back and always tried to put a smile on your face.  Him and I met basically the first day of my senior year of high school in our spanish class.  We didn't really talk much at the very beginning but later in the year we used to talk and joke around all the time.  Rey always put the biggest smile on my face because of a joke he had or something funny he said.  I haven't met as genuine a person like rey in a long time.  I can't believe you are gone bro I would've loved to make more memories with you.  I know your spirit will always be with me though and with all of your friends and family❤❤❤.

Serrano International Week. 2015. Rey was in 7th grade and we instantly clicked when we found out we were Filipino. When we were practicing for tinikling one day, Rey lifted his arms, looked at his kilikili (armpit) and said “aw man, look at my sweat swains! (instead of stains)” We could not stop laughing. From his Pacquiao “crop top” to our little family, every moment was filled with laughter and I will cherish it all. I always tried to be a good role model for you, Rey, but I ended up learning so many things from YOU: your kindness, your selflessness, your love. Rey did amazing things and the positive impact he had on so many people is astounding. Salamat and Mahal kita bunso <3

this is so surreal to be writing this. i can’t remember a time when rey didn’t have a smile on his face. i would walk up to him and he was always smiling and/or laughing. he made everywhere he went a happier place. the last memory i have of rey is when my friend and i left class for a little and we heard a laugh that was just the best laugh and a laugh we needed to hear after some pretty boring classes. he was with some of his friends doing something for asb. he asked us how we were and we just had a normal conversation with rey. after a little while we decided to go back to class. now, looking back on that, i cherish every moment i had with rey. i’m so glad to have known him since 1st grade. i never knew it at the time, but rey impacted my life in countless of ways. we will always remember and love rey for the kind-hearted guy he was! 

words cannot describe how much of a genuine guy you were. you brought smiles and laughter to everyone you blessed with your presence. i wish i could replay every 3 on 3 with you from basketball season, i wish i could replay every fortnite dub with you, i wish i could relive every moment with you rey. but that isn’t possible. rey on the 27th of february you became a teacher, a mentor to everyone. you showed everyone how precious life is, you showed us all how quickly things can change, you showed us all how tightly to hug those we love. all rey did was bring people together, and even in his passing he’s still bringing people together. walking into that crisis center, i looked niko right in the eyes and started crying like a child and so did he, and that’s the affect you had on everyone rey, everyone cared about you so much and being immediately greeted by everyone grieving and crying for you was so comforting, it was so hard pretending everything was okay, sitting through multiple classes like a normal day, until chem, the class you’d always wait for me at, you always waited at the bottom of the stairs even when i was late, because “mr lee likes me so if we walk in together he won’t mark us late." i cried like a baby today for you rey and being surrounded by everyone else who felt the same pain made it so much easier. there’s so many people who are going to miss you rey. you impacted so many lives with your relentless positivity. you always made an effort to help others, in mr. lee’s class when our row had to have 5 seats and someone had to sit on the outside of the table, you did it without question. i wish i could just hear you call me jake jake one more time. i wish i could just hear that laugh one more time rey. thank you for showing me and so many others what it is to be a good person, i am forever changed as a person because of your love for life. love you rey rey

Rey and I would always walk together to second period everyday since the beginning of the year. He’d wait for me in front of the tree by the math buildings. Every morning I’d see that smile that he always had and we’d walk together to our class, he’d ask everyday how I was and we’d talk about when we would hang out and all the plans we had for this school year. Now every morning I walk to my class thinking of you, not a day will go by where I don’t. Always thinking of you Rey <33

One day at a volleyball game I was sitting alone on the bleachers doing ball shag. Rey saw me sitting alone and came up and introduced himself then sat with me. He never knew how happy that made me. We ended up talking for a lot of the game and I wish I got to know him more after that. He was just that type of guy, so outgoing and always doing the most to make others happy. Thank you rey for being so kind always & to his family I hope you are all doing well, sending my prayers <3

I was never super close with Rey but I’ll never forget, on May 29th, 2012 at my tye-dye themed 14th birthday party, Rey had his first kiss with my best friend (Sofia San Roman) in a game of truth or dare. Although me and Rey were never best buds, he always took time out of his day to make me and everyone else around him feel loved. After I moved away, I would often come visit my friends at ET, and everytime he saw me walking past the ASB Office, he would always run up to me and give me the biggest hug and tell me he missed me. I’ll never forget how loved he made me feel. Thank you for everything you’ve done for me and my best friends. You’re in my heart forever.  (P.S. you always convinced my mom to donate cans to ASB for the canned food drive, but donated even more to the choir program hehe. Even my mom couldn’t resist your charm.)

there are so many. but i remember this past october, rey wanted to ask my friend to homecoming. but he was too worried someone else wanted to ask her. he would call me everyday after his basketball practice telling me how beautiful she is, how kind she is, and how badly he wants to take a picture with her. my first month at trabuco, he would text me everyday asking how i was adjusting to the new school and how all my classes were going, he truly cared. sweetest kid ever. 

It’s so difficult to choose from, but here were two of my favs. for about 2 years you’d always accompany in walking to each class and every time we’d have a competition on who knows the most people & how many people we could say hi to. on mostly Friday’s you’d take a tally and you mostly always win (eh not always ahah). & the last time i had ever spoken to you. we were waiting for the football game to start & you & me were predicting who was gonna win homecoming queen and king. then you said to me, "ya know bofa, i think it’s gonna be you & me who win it senior year” & I said, “ahah bruh what definitely you but no way me” & he went with this favorite word, “bet” & pinky promised me it would be us. to my biggest role model and best friend. every memory with rey is a good memory, but i remember in 4th grade he would always get to school before me and wait for me on the black top. i walked passed the kindergarteners every morning and his little sister samantha would always stop me to tell me something rey had said about me or something that he did, and one morning she stopped me and told me that reynold had a surprise for me. when i finally got up to our meeting spot he was standing there with a rose, i walked around the school ALL day with that rose in my hand and the biggest smile on my face, just showing it off to everyone bragging that i had the best boyfriend at the school :,) ❤️

I remember going to my locker for the first time freshman year and seeing Rey there, he was like “ayyeee Sarai we’re locker buddies” and because of our last names, every year after that, we were locker buddies. I was just happy to know someone as genuine and loving as Rey. It only took him 4 years to finally get my name right cause he always had trouble pronouncing it but he’ll always be my locker buddy❤️

Rey was the reason that my 8th grade year was truly a great time. One day when Rey and I were in PAL we had to go and give Recycle Tuesday gift cards out to the people who had won, That day he gave me the nickname "Slipper". We would push each other into the classes because we didn't want to talk to the teacher. The reason that my nickname came up was because we were at Senora Maldonado's class and he pushed me so hard he fell in as well. We laughed on the ground for at least 10 minutes. After that day I knew Rey and I were going to be friends for a while. Freshman year we were in the same Earth Science class. He never failed to put a smile on my face and brought this light into my life that will never dull. Thank you Rey for showing me what a true friendship is and always being there for me. I hope you are resting easy and are out of pain❤️❤️

This isn’t huge, but I would always remember getting Snapchats from him asking for more Caramel Delight Girl Scout Cookies. It would always be a struggle trying to get the cookies to him because one day he would forget the money and the next day I would forget the cookies. But once he received them, we just laughed and joked about it. I would always walk past him during passing period and he would always smile at me. He was such a caring person. He had an amazing heart.  His legacy will live on forever at El Toro. You will not be forgotten. ❤️ Rest easy. 

I’ll never forget the time that Rey found out i half slid on Snapchat. I was showing him a text someone had sent me and instead of opening it i just slid the chat not all the way but just until you could read it clearly. I looked at his face to see his reaction to the text but he didn’t even read it he was so shocked at the fact that you could do that and that I would do that. He said “that’s what you do to me huh!? that’s why you never respond to my texts!” He put on the biggest sad face and we started laughing so hard. Ever since that day, anytime i wouldn’t respond to him after only 5 minutes he would accuse me of half sliding and get all sad about it. It became an inside joke and he never let me live that down. 

I remembered the first time I met Rey, it was through a song I liked a lot at the time. When I played it through the speaker while hanging with a group of friends I heard him scream “AYEEEE” and a big smile grew on his face. We finally started talking and I knew from that moment Rey was going to be a close friend of mine throughout life. R.I.P. Rey❤️

I was in PAL in 8th grade with Rey and our teacher always picked on a certain group of us, and she wasn’t allowing us to go into the hallway like we wanted. So for some reason we thought it was a good idea to sneak into the hallway and then crawl back into the class with Rey in the front. I remember not even getting in trouble because Rey was just such a good kid and she just ended up thinking it was funny. 

Rey and I were doing a job for basketball and passing out flyers around a plaza earlier this school year. And after we finished I was ready to leave and I was giving Rey a ride home. But right before we got in the car, Rey was like "wait bro, I need some candy" and I was like "dude what? Nah dawg I'm trying to go home haha" and Rey was really set on getting some candy so he was begging me like "brooo please I really wanna get some candy, and it won't take that long and I'll buy you a Gatorade or something" and so naturally after hearing about a free Gatorade I said ok let's do this and so we went and bought some Gatorade and a bag or two of  Reys favorite candy--Sour Patch Watermelons
