June 12, 2005 - September 2, 2026
With profound sadness and immeasurable love, our family announces the passing of our beloved Shemaiah D. Palma, who left us unexpectedly on September 2, 2026, at the age of 21.
Shemaiah was born in Cavite, Philippines, to Eliseus Palma and Marites Domingo. In 2014, she immigrated to the United States, where she grew into the bright, determined, and fiercely independent young woman so many came to know and love.
She graduated from C.D. Hylton High School in Woodbridge, Virginia, in 2023 and went on to attend Virginia Tech, where she was a senior studying Biochemistry. A proud member of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets and Naval ROTC, Shemaiah planned to commission as a Surface Warfare Officer in the United States Navy and later pursue her dream of becoming a Physician Assistant.
Beyond her accomplishments, Shemaiah was unapologetically herself. She loved expressing herself through fashion and makeup, dressing up, perfumes, taking photos, and traveling. She had a wonderfully sarcastic sense of humor, strong opinions, and was never afraid to speak her mind. She knew what she believed in and had the courage to stand by it.
Shemaiah often joked that she never wanted children and claimed she didn't like kids - but her nieces were always the exception. She adored Eliana and Luciana and loved them deeply. She was also looking forward to welcoming her newest niece, Shania, whom she sadly never had the chance to meet.
Shemaiah was a cherished daughter to Eliseus and Marites, a beloved sister to Hannah Ruth and Sem Zeus, and a loving aunt. To her family, she will forever be their bunso.
At only 21, Shemaiah had already accomplished so much, with an entire future still ahead of her. There were places she wanted to see, photographs still to take, dreams to pursue, and countless milestones we expected to celebrate beside her.
We will remember Shemaiah exactly as she was: genuine, kindhearted, selfless, independent, determined, outspoken, stylish, sarcastic, and completely herself.
Her life was far too short, but the love she gave, the dreams she carried, and the memories she left behind will remain with us always.
Shemaiah, our daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and bunso - you were deeply loved in this life, and you will be deeply missed for the rest of ours.
