Teresa Ann Humphrey

January 15, 1959October 12, 2020

Teresa Ann Humphrey, age 61, wife of Douglas Keith Humphrey unexpectedly passed away on Monday, October 12 at Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, CA. She was born on January 15th, 1959, to Maurice and Barbara (Whitlinger) Huss. She would have celebrated 34 years of marriage on October 18th. She attended Pomona Catholic Girls High School class of 1973 and got her college degree from California State University, Northridge class of 1984. She has worked for the last 36 years as a physical therapist.

She filled her life with family and friends and was constantly in her craft room creating beautiful presents for everyone. She always left her personal touch on everything. You felt the passion in her gifts she gave you from the moment you laid your eyes and hands on them. She always greeted you with a smile that lit up the room, which was contagious, and gave you a bear hug that instantly made you feel loved. She treasured the holidays as it was a time to get together with family and make memories. She always took care of the turkey and then some and made the best pies, oh those pies and her desserts are indescribable. Her holiday cookies were something she would get started on weeks in advance and made sure that everyone had more than enough. She enjoyed watching sports, especially her Los Angeles Angels and Anaheim Ducks and often recorded the games and would find out the score and then watch them. She would say her perfect day consisted of spending its entirety down at the beach with her toes in the sand and a La Croix in her hand. Her pride and joy were her children until her grandson came into the picture and then her life was all about him. It’s nearly impossible to sum up who Teresa was in words because there are truly no words to describe the incredible person she was.

Teresa is survived by her mother Barbara Huss, her husband Douglas Humphrey, her sister and brother-in-law Mary and Mike Pasqua, sister and brother – in-law Julie and Brad Garner, brother and sister in law – Dave and Marissa Huss, brother Mark Huss, sister and brother in law Lisa and Rodger Lawler and brother Andrew Huss; sister in law and brother in law Debbie and Steve Orecchio and sister in law Diane Huss; her daughter and son-in-law Alyssa and Max Helm and grandson Owen Helm, and her daughter Keely Humphrey. She loved and left her mark on all of these people and many more.

Not gone but simply out of sight as one who walks ahead at night. And though she's passed through heaven's door, lives in our hearts forever more.

My love and prayers to Teresa’s family during this time. It is hard to believe that she has left this earth way to soon. She was a great friend and co- worker, I felt blessed to have her I’m my life for the last 12 years. She gave her all in everything she did from work to family, baking,( I will cherish her recipes she shared) crafting, dog loving, sport loving, always making lemonade out of lemons. She loved being a grandma most of all, her whole face lit up when she spoke of Owen. I find comfort in knowing she has to be in heaven, the most giving, forgiving, person I aspire to be more like. I will always miss her ❤️

I knew Teresa for 7 years while working at Crystal Cove. She was a great co-worker that showed empathy, patience, and was a wonderful lister to her patients. She never gave up on them.

As my friend, she was like a cheerleader to me. She was eager and encouraging in my endeavors but most importantly truly cared about how I felt and was concerned if I had a bad day. She exuded positivity towards others and gave SO much of herself in helping people as I’m sure everyone can think of their own memories of how she was. And I loved her laugh and how she didn’t take herself seriously. Her sarcasm could get us all through the stress at work or with the current events happening. And if not, her baked goods did the trick!

I pray for Teresa’s daughters and husband and grandson that they will be led by the Lord’s perfect peace that surpasses all understanding through this difficult time. What a gift Teresa was to us all.

I've known Teresa for close to 20 years and she was the reason why I worked where I worked. She made me feel at home and made it easy to go to work. We had many laughs (due mostly to her falling off a stool or saying something that didn't make sense) and many wonderful times. She religiously made carrot cake on my birthday and I will never forget her. She had a "memory of a hawk" (inside joke). Love you and miss you!

I’ll remember:
Your Faith
Your devotion to your family, your beautiful girls, your adorable Owen
I’ll remember your love for sports, especially The Ducks and Angels
And the girls’ soccer games
I’ll remember your dedication at work and the respect you gave to others
I’ll remember your cute posts of Owen wishing everyone a happy Wednesday on Tuesdays
I’ll remember your sewing of special gifts, Carrot Cakes, Apple Pie and your enjoyment of Hallmark Channel Xmas movies.
So much love.........

I worked with Teresa for the past 12 years. She was a great Physical Therapist and a wonderful person. Many times her patients would refer to her as Mother Teresa. She was selfless, dedicated and had compassion for her patients. She was also a great baker. Every Christmas she would make delicious cookies and give them as gifts, and many times she would bake something special for her co workers birthdays. You are an Angel in heaven and I will miss you.

I worked with Teresa until last year, she was truly the most compassionate and knowledgeable person. Her ability to leave her patients feeling confident and cared for was truly amazing and her thoughtfulness of friends and coworkers was unmatched. I once was working very late just before Christmas, new to the job, and she came back in to work around 8pm, just to bring me my own giant plate of her famous Xmas cookies, I felt so appreciated and never forgot it. She sure had a gift for knowing exactly what someone needed and when. She will be missed by all!

My dear friend Teresa was a woman full of faith, love, generosity and her special sense of humor! She was a wonderful therapist who taught me so much during the years we worked together, and she was much loved by her patients and fellow therapists. But my most favorite memories were of our talks about daily life and our family hopes and dreams. Teresa you were a great friend, and I will miss you so much! My love and prayers go out to Doug, Alyssa and her family, and Keely.
