

Hedy Catedral Dequina Abordo passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on June 19, 2026. Born on August 10, 1945, in Iloilo, Philippines to the late Romeo and Nelly Dequina, Hedy dedicated her life to the care of others. She graduated from the Martinez Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1966, beginning a distinguished career as an Operating Room nurse. During this time, she had the unique privilege of working alongside her father-in-law, Dr. Beltran L. Abordo, Sr. and her future husband, Dr. Beltran G. Abordo Jr. Her commitment to service continued as a Public Health nurse where she provided vital education and outreach to the community of Navotas. In 1990, Hedy moved to Houston, Texas to begin a new chapter. She served as a Neurology nurse at Houston Methodist Hospital before joining MD Anderson Cancer Center as an Interventional Radiology nurse, where she worked until her retirement.
Hedy was preceded in rest by her parents, Romeo Dequina, Sr. and Nelly Dequina, and her beloved husband, Dr. Beltran G. Abordo Jr.
Her legacy lives on through her family. She is survived by her siblings Romeo, Jr., Harolyn, Harriet, and Rhoel; her children Jeanette Tumibay, Jennifer Mago (Ronald), Jeremy Aganon (Dennis), and Beltran Abordo, III (Shirley). She was a cherished grandmother to Joanne Gamboa (Michael), Leoncio, III (Gyra), and Lendell Tumibay; Elijah and Emma Mago; Joshua and Samuel Aganon; and Charlotte and Sterling Abordo. She also leaves behind her great-granddaughter, Margaret Lauren.
A memorial service to celebrate Hedy’s life will be held on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Forest Park Missouri City Funeral Home located at 4217 Shipmans Cove Boulevard, Missouri City, TX 77545.
