Maria A. Flores

Maria is survived by her devoted husband, Israel Flores; her children, Jessica Medina and husband Ronnie, Eddie Flores and wife Eileen, and Jacob Flores; her mother, Herlinda Garcia; her sisters, Genoveva Garcia, Maricela Beverly; and her brother, Jorge Luis Garcia. Maria was preceded in death by her father Monico Garcia.

Maria immigrated from Matamoros, Mexico, and from a young age understood the meaning of hard work and sacrifice. At just 17 years old, she began working for Fort Bend ISD as a custodian. What began as a job became an extraordinary 43 year career marked by dedication, pride, and an unmatched work ethic. Over the years, she became a lead custodian and eventually concluded her career at Meadows Elementary.

Maria took tremendous pride in her work and rarely missed a day. But to her, her work was about much more than keeping a school clean. She cared deeply for the children, teachers, and coworkers who surrounded her each day. She watched generations of children grow and treated so many of them with the same kindness, patience, and care she gave to her own family. Her school community became an extension of the home and family she loved so dearly.

That same devotion was at the center of everything Maria did at home. Alongside her husband, Israel, she worked tirelessly to build a life for their family. Her greatest pride and joy were her children, Jessica, Eddie, and Jacob. She gave them everything she had and made countless sacrifices, often putting their needs and dreams before her own. She wanted nothing more than for her children to have opportunities, to succeed, and to build meaningful lives of their own. So much of who they are today is a reflection of the strength, determination, compassion, and work ethic she instilled in them.

Maria loved her family deeply and showed that love not only through words, but through everything she did. She worked for them, prayed for them, worried about them, cooked for them, and cared for them in countless ways, both big and small. For Maria, taking care of the people she loved was simply part of who she was.

A devout Catholic, Maria's faith was a constant source of strength throughout her life. She prayed every day, and even during times of sickness and difficulty, she continued praying the rosary. Her faith carried her through many seasons of life and was woven deeply into the way she loved her family and cared for others.

Maria also found happiness in life's simple pleasures. She loved cheering for the Houston Astros, keeping a spotless home, and, perhaps most of all, cooking for the people she loved. Food was one of the many ways Maria expressed her affection. Whether she was preparing a meal for her husband and children, bringing food to her parents, or sharing something she had made with friends, she found joy in knowing that the people around her were cared for and well fed.

Maria spent her life giving to others and asking for very little in return. Her legacy cannot be measured only by the 43 years she worked or the responsibilities she carried. It lives in the family she built, the sacrifices she made, the prayers she offered, the meals she prepared, the children she cared for, and the countless lives made better simply because Maria was part of them.

Those fortunate enough to have known Maria will remember her strength, her determination, her faith, her generosity, and above all, the deep love she had for her family. Her absence will be felt in countless everyday moments: around the dinner table, during an Astros game, in a perfectly kept home, in a familiar meal, and in the prayers of those who loved her.

Maria will be deeply missed, but the love she gave so freely will never leave those she loved. It will continue through her husband, her children, her family, and the generations that follow. Her life was one of service, sacrifice, faith, and love, and her family will carry her with them always.

Visitation will be held at Forest Park Missouri City Funeral Home, 4217 Shipmans Cove Boulevard, Missouri City, TX 77545, US, on August 13, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

A Celebration of Life Reception will take place on August 13, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1510 5th St, Missouri City, TX 77489, US, on August 14, 2026, at 11:00 am.

Committal will follow at San Gabriel Cemetery, 1310 Richmond Pkwy, Richmond, TX 77469, US, on August 14, 2026, at 1:00 pm.
