Vickie Jordan Boulden passed away leaving behind a legacy of deep faith, professional excellence, and a lifetime of community service. She was born on December 28, 1959, to her devoted parents, Warren and Birdia Jordan, Vickie’s life was a beautiful journey that touched and bettered many hearts across the globe.
At a very early age, Vickie accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at Free Gift Baptist Church in Monroe, Louisiana under the leadership of Rev. B.J. Washington. No matter where her life's journey took her, she poured her entire heart into serving the church.
Vickie grew up in Monroe, Louisiana, where she spent her formative years and graduated from Richwood High School. She then went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. After college, she returned home to Monroe for several years before embarking on an exciting journey that took her to Fort Hood, Texas, and across the ocean to Stuttgart, Germany.
While living in Dallas, Texas, she attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend R.E. Price, where she was highly active in the Women’s Ministry, Bible Study, and Vacation Bible School. She worked at the well-known retail store Bloomingdale's as a Department Manager, where she excelled and received numerous accolades in customer service and quickly rose to higher leadership positions.
She later moved to Houston, Texas and became a dedicated member of New Faith Church under Senior Pastor T.R. Williams. It was during her time at New Faith that she met the love of her life, Willie Boulden, and the two were united in holy matrimony. In Houston, she worked as a Quality Analyst for a major communications company.
When Willie's job transferred them to San Angelo, Texas, they joined St. Paul Baptist Church under Rev. Fredd B. Adams. Vickie served closely alongside the pastor as the Church’s Administrative Assistant. She also served dynamically as an assistant Sunday School teacher for the women's ministry, sang in the choir, worked with the mission ladies and served as President of the Deaconess Ministry. She even used her talents as the church newspaper publisher and in 2006, her incredible devotion earned her the honor of "Woman of the Year" at St. Paul’s Annual Women’s Day.
Vickie did not just live in a community; she fought to make it better. While living in San Angelo, her civic engagement was extensive and deeply impactful. She served on the Adult Enrichment Board, was highly active with the San Angelo Chapter of the NAACP, and was a proud member of both the Le’Coterie Society and the Cosmopolitan Club where she loved working with the Debutantes. She also held a vital leadership role with the West Texas Organizing Strategy, where she championed local neighborhoods by fighting to secure stop signs, sidewalks and other essential safety improvements. Driven by a deep compassion for others, Vickie regularly delivered meals to the elderly and volunteered her time at the Wesley United Soup Kitchen.
In addition to her ministry and community work, Vickie brought immense passion, intelligence and a stellar work ethic to her professional career. Once she moved to San Angelo, Vickie turned her talents to real estate and earned her license from the Southwest School of Real Estate. She found immediate success, winning the prestigious "Rookie of the Year" award during her first year with Coldwell Banker Patterson Properties. Highly respected by her peers, she also served on numerous committees with the San Angelo Association of Realtors and their Education Committee, Hospitality & Budget.
Following another relocation to Corpus Christi, Texas, Vickie and Willie joined St. John Baptist Church under Pastor Derrick E. Reaves. She remained a faithful worker there, serving on the Finance Ministry, Church Beautification Ministry, Women’s Ministry, Pastoral Support Committee and the Pastoral Appreciation Committee, while also serving as President of the Deacon’s Trustee’s, and Minister Wives Ministry.
After her husband's retirement in 2020, she moved back to Houston and joined Lilly Grove Baptist Church. True to her servant's heart, she quickly became active with the Ruth Circle, the Women’s Ministry, Deacon Family Ministry #1 and the Reach Out and Touch Ministry. At the time of her passing, Vickie was proudly serving her community as an election clerk across three different counties.
Finally, Vickie's pride and joy is her only son, Jordan Sabias Charles, who gives her life strength and happiness. Jordan's strong personality and great sense of humor always keep her laughing. Many even call him her twin because they share the exact same thoughts, attitude, and wit.
Vickie will always be remembered for her sweet spirit, her creative mind, meticulous, detailed -oriented and her absolute dedication to her family, her community, and the Lord. Above all, she will be cherished for her extraordinarily big heart, which she poured unconditionally into the service of others, leaving an indelible mark on every life she touched and every community she sought to uplift.
