Bobby Lee Depew, age 53, passed away peacefully at his home in Mobile, AL surrounded by his family on February 13, 2020. He was born on November 5, 1966 to Bill and Katie Mae (Helmuth) Depew in Hutchinson, KS.
On August 27,1988 he married Polly Bender. They made their home in KS. He worked at Mennonite Friendship Retirement Community, first as a nurse aide and later in maintenance. He was also a volunteer firefighter in Partridge, KS. In 2004, he moved his family to Atmore, AL in order to minister under We Care Program as a prison chaplain. In 2016 he was ordained and became pastor at Way of Life Community Church in Mobile, AL. Then in June 2017 he was diagnosed with esophageal cancer and sought treatment at Cancer Treatment Center of America, Newman, GA. The spring of 2018, he finally was able to fulfill his dream to move to Mobile. He loved ministering to people. He was also a loving husband and dad and his grandchildren were his pride and joy.
He is survived by his bride of 31 years, Polly Depew, son, Chad Depew, daughter, Cassandra Depew, all of Mobile AL. Son Kevin Depew and wife Sarah, Atmore, AL. Grandchildren Rori Fae and Dominick Ledger. Father Bill Depew and step-mother, Connie Busick-Depew, Hutchinson, KS. Brothers Harlen Depew, Hutchinson, KS and Dave Depew, Rogers, AR. Brother-in-law Richard Sallee, Liberty, TX. He was proceeded in death by his mother, Katie Mae and sister, Faye.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 17, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Way of Life Community Church, 1760 Riverside Drive, Mobile, Al. Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the church
Visitation on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 will be held at the Grace Fellowship Church in Atmore, Alabama from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. followed by service at 3:30 p.m. Interment will be held in Freemanville Community Cemetery, Atomre , Al.
