Agnes Gertrude "Trudy" Powell Portella

She retired from the Mobile County Revenue Commissioner’s Office as the Bankruptcy Department Supervisor after many years of service and was a longtime member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Mrs. Portella was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Esperanto Portella, Sr., and grandson, Jason Daniel Hyde.

She is survived by her children: Rebecca Portella Hyde (James), Joseph E. Portella, Jr., Anthony R. Portella (Joy), Victor M. Portella, and Jennifer Portella Hammons (Robert); sister, Hazel Coronel Powell Beck (Robert); 12 grandchildren: Jeremy William Hyde, Jennifer Dawn Hyde Castle (Phillip), Jennifer Lee Smith Gaigenheimer (Billie), Anthony Robert Portella, Jr., Christin Joy Portella, James Brian Darnell (Lindsey), Steven Herchel Portella (Sarah), Sarah Nicole Portella, Kathleen “Katie” Anne Hammons, Rebecca Marie Hammons, Vanessa Marie Hammons Phelan, and Melanie Ann Hammons Sampler (Brandon); 8 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church on Monday, August 15, 2011, at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street on Sunday, August 14, from 5-8 p.m. with the Rosary being recited at 7 p.m. Interment will be in Catholic Cemetery.
