Alice Jane Frosh Bryars was a devoted wife, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She left this world peacefully at age 98 with loved ones by her side on July 9, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Inez Frosh, sister, Carnelia Enders, husband, Hubert Cecil Bryars and daughter, Barbara Kay Bryars Darnley. She is survived by her son Robert (Audie) Bryars, son-in-law, James H. Darnley, Jr, five grandchildren, Lori (Pat) Downey, Lisa (Eric) Cooper, Vanessa Markow, Brenda Fisher, Kelly (Patty) Fisher, nine great-grandchildren Morgan, Mallory and Mason (Megan) Downey, Bryars, Wes and Sarah Cooper, Lauren Markow, Bryant and Mac Fisher and two great granddaughters, Rylee and Maisie Downey.
She was born in Fairfield, Illinois on May 31,1924 and later lived in Oregon where she met her beloved Cecil at a dance. They married on March 12,1945 and moved to Mobile, Alabama after a short residence in Walla Walla, Washington. Always a bit of trailblazer, she balanced both a career and raising a family. She worked at the District of Mobile Corps of Engineers where she was promoted several times before retiring as a voucher exam supervisor in 1990 after 31 years of service.
Alice was an excellent cook and loved spending time with family and friends. She was a longtime member of Kingswood United Methodist Church, a member of the Red Hat Society and up until age 93 would often be seen driving her friends around town in her black PT Cruiser with shiny chrome trim. Her good nature, infectious smile and “sassy” sense of humor could always brighten any room. She lived each day to fullest and was ever grateful for the divine blessings in her life.
