Alice was born to Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Kurth in Manistee, Michigan and in early childhood became a resident of Mobile. She graduated from Murphy High School and attended the Mobile Infirmary School of Nursing where she later worked as a surgical nurse until the birth of her first daughter. Alice was active in civic organizations and served as treasurer for the Mobile County Medical Auxilary. She volunteered much of her time to the Mobile Opera Guild. Alice was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church. Alice devoted her life in support of her husband and family for almost seventy years. She displayed a spiritual strength for her entire life that influenced not only her family but also everyone she encountered. Alice is preceded in death by her parents and sister (Mary Williams). She is survived by her husband, Edward, the love of her life for seventy years, daughters, Karen Dudley Pittman (Kerry) and Cindy Dudley (Benson Bond), grandchildren; Rone Pittman Walker and Alice Pittman McCallum and great-grandchildren, William Walker, Isabel Walker and Jaxon McCallum. A very special thank you to Semira Gredicek, a devoted friend and caregiver. A celebration of her life will be held at St. Ignatius Church, Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. with visitation in the Marion Center at St. Ignatius at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held in Old Springhill Cemetery on Dilston Lane. Serving as pallbearers will be; Billy Seifert, Ross Seifert, Craig Dyas, Bill Thames, Bill Walker and Phillip Brunner. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P. O. Box 810, Memphis, TN 38101 or your favorite charity.
