Alma Cantrell, passed away on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at her home in Mobile, Alabama. She was born to Olen Weeks and Fannie Vickery Weeks in Winfield, Alabama. Alma was a seamstress for TG&Y, and retired after twenty-five years of service. She was a member of Government Street Baptist Church for over sixty years, and was the President of her BYKOTA Sunday School Class for twenty years. Alma was a certified American Red Cross Gray Lady at Murphy High School. She was the most loving and supportive mother and grandmother. Never once did she say no to any of her daughter’s dreams. Every one of her family members is grateful for her love and guidance, and they all feel they owe her a great deal of gratitude for “our lives”. She was also an incredible driver – she could drive any size of a vehicle from a go-cart to an 18-wheeler, and never had a traffic ticket or was involved in an accident that was of her causing. Alma was beautiful and graceful. She will be greatly missed.
Alma joined her husband of 35 years, James Leon Cantrell; her son, Larry Cantrell; two sisters; and four brothers.
Left to cherish her memories is her daughter, Debbie Brannon; granddaughter, Donna Galloway (James); grandson, Jeremy Brannon; three great-grandsons, Braxton and Gage Galloway, and Jakob Brannon; two sisters; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other cherished family and friends.
Visitation for Alma will be held on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Government Street Baptist Church, with a funeral service immediately following. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
Alma’s family were her primary caregivers for the latter portion of her life. They would like to extend gratitude to Southern Care Hospice for their help. A special thanks and appreciation to Angie Sweet.
