Alvin Richard Busby, Sr., age 91, a native of Mobile and a resident of Semmes passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2011. Mr. Busby was preceded in death by his wife, Eula Aline Dreading. He served in the Navy during World War II.
Mr. Busby worked at Aluminum Company of America from 1940 to 1982. In 1957 he was transferred to the Alcoa plant in Point Comfort, Texas. From 1970 to 1974 he was transferred with Alcoa to Kingston, Jamaica. Upon leaving Jamaica, he and Mrs. Busby returned to Mobile.
He is survived by two daughters, Celia Elaine (Busby) Ray, and her husband Donald “Bubba” Ray, of Orange Beach, Alabama and Lisa Gail Busby and husband Jim Jorgenson, of Palomar Park, California, two sons Alvin Richard Busby, Jr., of Wylie, Texas and Thomas Franklin Busby, and his wife Phyllis Jenelle Busby of Silver Spring Maryland, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 10:00 AM from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 5 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the American Heart Association, 900 Western America Circle #209.
