

Andrew LaMont Dees – an 89 year-old resident of Mobile passed away Monday, May 12, 2014. Mr. Dees was the founder of Dees Paper Company, Inc. which he owned and operated for 52 years. He was the youngest ever certified instructor of The Dale Carnegie Course. He was the past-presidents of the Southern Paper Trade Association, the United Way of Mobile, and the Isle Dauphine Country Club. Mr. Dees loved nature, and was an avid fisherman and birder. He was often seen on his tractor caring for his beloved Dog River home. He and his wife enjoyed many wonderful travels with their dear friends Ann and Fred Delchamps and Marilyn and Joel Swanson. A truly self-made man, he lived life with determination, humor and love. Mr. Dees is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Marsyl Sayre Dees; children, Plia Dees Preston and Lamont H. "Monty" Dees (Susan); granddaughters, Sonia Preston, Andrea Preston and Lauren Dees Tate (Leath); nephew, Andrew Dees (Lucy); other nieces and nephews, friends, and his family at Dees Paper Company. The family offers sincere gratitude to the wonderful staff of Crowne Place Assisted Living and Rehabilitation. Also, heartfelt thanks to his immediate caregivers: Andrea, Felicia, Nell, Patricia, Shauntaye, Stephanie, and Tameka. Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street on Saturday, May 17, 2014 from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. chapel memorial service with Dr. Stephen Dill officiating.
