Archie Dale Richardson, Sr loving husband, father, grandfather passed away Thursday, June 8th 2023. He was born on August 16, 1919 in Elkhart, Iowa to Floyd Charles Richardson and Hazel Jenny Harris Richardson.
Archie married Fay Richardson on August 15, 1942 in Mobile, Alabama. Archie and Fay spent 76 beautiful years together.
Archie was raised on an Iowa farm. He loved agriculture, loved to do yard work. He was still mowing his 1-acre yard at 103 years old. He loved to build homes and renovate houses. He enjoyed woodworking. In his lifetime, he built three new homes and renovated one.
In 1940, Archie entered an apprentice aircraft maintenance program in San Antonio Texas. He began working for Brookley as an aircraft engine mechanic after finishing his apprenticeship. He worked his way up the ranks of the United States Air Force Civil Service before retiring in 1972 as an Aircraft Quality Control Branch Chief after 30 years of service.
Archie is preceded in death by his wife Fay, his son David Eugene Richardson, his mother Hazel Jenny Seeley, his brother George Richardson and sister LaVaughn Richardson. He is survived by son Archie Dale Richardson, Jr. and his wife Mary Jo of Mobile Alabama; Son Thomas Lee Richardson of Bogalusa Louisiana; Son Daniel Edgar Richardson and his wife Gina of Mobile Alabama; Luri Richardson, widow of son David, of Ogden Utah. Archie had 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Archie was an active member of Luke 4:18 Baptist Church in Mobile. He and Fay were instrumental in the foundation of the church and attended services faithfully every week. Archie and Fay were members of Cottage Hill Baptist Church in Mobile for 20 years. They also took part in the foundation of Day Spring Baptist Church where they served as members for 12 years.
Services will be held Thursday, June 15 2023, at Luke 4:18 Fellowship at 2664 Sollie Road, Mobile Alabama at 11:00 am. A viewing for family and friends will precede the services at the church at 10am. Interment to follow at Pine Crest Cemetery on Dauphin Island Parkway. He will be laid to rest next to his wife, his mother and his sister.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to honor Archie may be donated to the Joshua Building Fund of Luke 4:18 Fellowship. 2664 Sollie Road, Mobile Alabama, 36695. 251-281-1418.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Kathleen Hill, Ali Fields, Kathleen Buskirk and Bettye Barnes and Gentiva Hospice for the superior care provided to Archie in his final weeks. Their assistance made it possible for him to remain in the comfort of his home of over forty years.
