She attended the University of Alabama and was a member of Delta Gamma sorority where she served as president. Upon graduating with a degree in Fine Arts, she came to Mobile, Alabama and taught school at Leinkauf Elementary. She was a renowned portrait artist and painted many of the priests at Trinity Episcopal Church, the Mobile County District Court judges, as well as portraits of children of multiple families in Mobile.
She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Mobile and Saint Francis Episcopal Church on Dauphin Island.
Her favorite pastimes were walking her dog, Duke, on the beach, watching sunsets on Dauphin Island, and playing bridge with her friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, George W. Edgar of Mobile, Alabama, her mother, Marjorie Orme Smart and her father, Hugh Jones Smart. She is survived by her children George Hugh Edgar, Marjorie Leigh Edgar, daughter-in-law, Deborah Price Edgar, her grandsons, Michael Hugh Edgar (Amanda) and David Robert Edgar (Beth), and great granddaughter, Caroline Quinn Edgar.
