Barbara James Funderburk

She was born in Bruce, MS, on July 8, 1936, to Woodrow James and Gertrude Lowery James. She graduated from Bruce High School, where she was valedictorian and homecoming queen. Barbara married in 1958 raised 2 children, Jason Funderburk and Leah Patrick. She retired from the International Paper Company as an executive secretary, where she worked for 38 years. Her life was filled with family and friends, travel and books. She was a member and leader in the Century Book Club for many years and travelled with her daughter to Europe, Canada and Mexico.

Barbara, or 'Nene' and 'Yaya' as she was also known, will be sorely missed by all those left behind.

She is survived by her aunt, Jean Ricks; her children Jason Funderburk and Leah Patrick; her grandchildren, Heather Merwick, Justin Patrick, Wilson Patrick, Hannah Langley, and John Patrick; and her ten great-grandchildren.

A Memorial service will be held in a private home, in Mobile on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. If you are a friend or family and would like to attend please contact Heather at 635-7700.
