Barbara Haas Howard

Barbara Haas Howard, 86, lifelong resident of Mobile, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at her home. She was born to Milton Harvey New and Katie Niolin New on April 15, 1935 In Mobile, Alabama. Barbara graduated from Murphy High School, Class of 1952. She had four sisters, Jolene Cazalas (Marion), Kay Barton (Lester), Mickey Jay, and Betty Day (Emory); and one brother, Milton Harvey New, Jr. Barbara Howard will forever be remembered for her kind and gracious inner spirit that led her to care for others beyond imagination. She loved animals, gardening and helping others. She is the glue that held everyone together and she loved her family unconditionally. She will be missed deeply by everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, William Roy Howard, Jr.; son, William “Bill” Howard (Sonya Land); daughter, Sherry Howard Cook (Golden O’Bannon); five grandchildren, who she loved dearly: Shanna, Haley, Alan, Molly, and Laura; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other cherished family and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at 1 p.m. in Pine Crest Cemetery on Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile.
