Barbara Ann Rawlings Outlaw-Carroll, 88, passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2018. She was born in Wilson, North Carolina on January 22, 1930 and lived in Atlanta, Georgia until 1943, when she became a resident of Mobile, Alabama.
Barbara graduated from Brenau Academy and continued her education at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She was a member of the Junior League of Mobile and several Mystic Societies. Barbara was an avid golfer and played in tournaments throughout the South. She dedicated herself to volunteer work in her younger years and was Vice-President and President of the Catholic Boys Home.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Col. Herbert Sidney Rawlings and Ethel Gardner Rawlings; and her daughter, Lynn Outlaw Cunningham who passed away in 2007.
She is survived by two children, George Cabell Outlaw, III (Dedi), and Jean Rawlings Outlaw Sherman; nine adored grandchildren, Chad (Jennifer) Cunningham of Nashville, TN, Ashley Cunningham Frank (Paul) of Los Angeles, CA, Rawlings Outlaw Sherman (Brandi), Peter Cayce Sherman, Jr. Cabell Outlaw, IV, Alexander Outlaw (Rachel), Timothy Outlaw, Melissa Irene Outlaw, and Chett Outlaw; six great-grandchildren, Allie and Cabell Cunningham, Laura, Riley, and Clayton Outlaw, and Benjamin Frank. She will always fondly be remembered as “Ganny”.
A graveside service will be held in Pine Crest Cemetery on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 10 a.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Wings of Life: 800 St. Louis Street, Mobile, Alabama, 36602, 251-432-5245.
