Barbara Jean Hoppe Rabbitt

Barbara Jean Hoppe Rabbitt, 78, went to be in the arms of the Savior on Wednesday, January 8, 2025. She was a resident of Mobile, Alabama. Barbara was born to James Clarence Hoppe and Romanie Lowell Hoppe on November 14, 1946, in Mobile, but spent a large part of her life traveling due to her father’s military assignments. She served in the Coast Guard reserves for four years before moving into civil service with the Coast Guard. Barbara was a Godly woman and was a long-time member of Hollinger’s Island Baptist Church. For years, every time the doors were open, Barbara was at the church. She enjoyed crafts, and loved participating in Krafty Kritters with her church family. Barbara was a loving and devoted family woman, and always made it a point that family had to stick together. She was an amazing soul and will be greatly missed.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Rabbitt; parents; brother, James Hoppe; and loving sister, Patricia Ann Hoppe.

She is survived by her first husband and faithful friend, Charles Parmar; nieces, Toni Michelle Bynum; nephew, Andrew Brice Garrettson; great-nephews, Pardra Lockett, Gabriel Smith, and Andrew Brice Garrettson, Jr.; as well as other cherished family and friends.

Visitation for Barbara will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. at Hollinger’s Island Baptist Church, with a funeral service beginning at 1 p.m. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
