
Bette Diane Watts Coan – a 78 year-old native and resident of Mobile passed away Sunday, January 23, 2011. She will always be remembered best by the words of 2 Timothy 4:7-8, “ I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” Mrs. Coan was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Walter Coan, Jr. She is survived by her children, Sidney Coan, III (Grace), Diane Odom (Eddy), and John Coan (Kem); grandchildren, Sidney Coan, IV, Kevan Sailors, Robby Coan, Alan Sailors, Megan Coan, Jennifer Ainsworth (Jamey), and Matthew Odom (Mandy); great-grandchildren, Johnathan Kent and Kaylynn Kent; sister-in-law, Gwen Carey (John); other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held from St. Luke’s Episcopal Church on Friday, January 28, 2011 at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until the service hour. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael McDonald, John McDonald, Sidney Coan, IV, Robby Coan, Alan Sailors, and Matthew Odom.
