

Betty Wilber Brooks, 87 of Mobile entered into rest Thursday, November 12, 2015 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 16, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Radney Funeral Home, Mobile. Interment will follow at Pine Crest Cemetery. Pastor Scott Howard and Pastor Dick Braswell will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Brooks was born July 6, 1928, in Mobile to the late Oscar Howard Wilber, Jr. and Maude Louise Kenopke Wilber. She was also preceded in death by her husband Alfred H. Brooks, Jr. Mrs. Brooks actively volunteered with the Prison Ministry of Life Church, the homeless, Red Cross, and Murphy High School Grey Ladies. She also had a home ministry, was a Girl Scout leader, performed in plays for churches and the United Fund, started a Garden Club at Brennity, and was President of the Class Reunion Murphy High School Class of 1946. Mrs. Brooks received her Bachelor’s in Theology at the age of 80.
She is survived by her three children, Betty (Jimmy) Holmes of Wilmer, Alfred Vernon Brooks of Wilmer, and Susan (Larry) Clary of Orange Beach, two grandchildren, William Eric Lander of Mobile and Lara Dawn Lander of Ozark, and two great-grandchildren, Stephanie Autumn Hughes and Carman Michelle Hughes.
