

Born on March 7, 1935, in George County, Lucedale, Mississippi,
Betty graduated from Providence School of Nursing in 1957. She continued her career at the University of South Alabama Hospital as Director of Maternal Child Health, serving in this capacity for 35 years.
Betty married Ronald Mair on September 21, 1957, beginning a partnership built on affection, shared purpose, and a lifetime of memories lasting 68 ½ years. Betty and Ronald were a dynamic couple who complimented each other in every way. They spent a great deal of time traveling the world – seeing all but Africa and Iceland in their travels. Betty loved traveling and thrived in learning about different cultures.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J.D. Dickson and Molly Dickson; brothers, Jack Dickson and Jessie Dickson, Jr.; sister, Marie Hudson; two sons, David Alan Mair and Ronald Clayton Mair.
Betty is survived by her husband, Ronald K. Mair; two children, William Keith Mair and Margaret Ann Daniel. She is also survived by three grandchildren: John Daniel of Mobile, Alabama; Dustin Mair of Rohnert Park, California; and Dr. Adam Mair of Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. She leaves behind seven great-grandchildren, along with a host of other relatives and friends.
A service honoring her life will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. at Pine Crest Cemetery West, with a visitation from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street in Mobile. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to St. Jude’s or Ronald McDonald House.
