
Betty Statham Thompson – beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, a 91 year-old native of Amite, Louisiana and longtime resident of Mobile passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2025. Betty lived in Mobile for over 65 years. During her RN career, she worked for Dr. Rhett Walker, was Director of Nursing at Lynwood Nursing Home, and retired from Mobile Health Dept as the Director of Family Planning. She was an avid reader and loved studying the Bible. Her favorite pastime was shopping and eating out with her family. Thompson was a former member of Spring Hill Baptist Church and was a current member at Creekwood Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, R. Jerry Thompson. Mrs. Thompson is survived by her children, Becky Joubert Schleis (Adrian), Patti Coiner (Mark), and Donna Allsup (Randy); grandchildren, Cade Joubert, Averi Maisonave (Justin), Ross Coiner (Erin), Taylor Coiner (Jessie), Lauren Gafford (John), Morgan Martin (Jordan); great-grandchildren, Wesley Maisonave, Cooper Coiner, Denney Coiner, Emma Gafford, Luke Gafford, Lottie Martin, and Sage Martin; brother, Malcolm Statham (Catherine); nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family would like to thank the caring staff at Somerby Senior Living and the wonderful nurses and CNA’s that cared for her at Saad’s Hospice Retreat.
Graveside services and interment will be held on Monday, May 12, 2025, at 1 p.m. in Pine Crest Cemetery West on Snow Road. Condolences may be offered at www.pinecrestfuneralhome.com.
