Beverly was born in Mobile, Alabama on September 7, 1946, where she spent most of her life as a resident. She was a graduate of Murphy High School, Class of 1964, before attending the University of South Alabama. Beverly had a long career in credit and finance with multiple businesses in the Mobile area, before retiring as a payroll clerk from St. Dominic Catholic Church.
Beverly was extremely devout in her faith and firm in her beliefs. She was longtime parishioner of St. Dominic Catholic Church and spent many years volunteering throughout different facets of the church. Beverly was the Public Relations representative and the first president of the St. Dominic Catholic Church Council, as well as the president of sports in 1976. She spear-headed the Catholic Charities Appeal for St. Dominic, oversaw the Golden Jubilee for the Sisters of Mercy Convent in Mobile, and served as Public Relations representative for The Compassionate Friends of Mobile. Beverly had a Helper’s Heart that could not be eclipsed.
Beverly and her husband David shared 54 wonderful years together. David was home to Beverly – inseparable until the end – and she was happiest when she was at his side. She had a fierce love for her family. If one word could be associated with Beverly, it would be devotion. Devotion to her faith, devotion to her family, and devotion to the community around her. She was headstrong, kind, and generous – a wonderful woman in every way and will be greatly missed. “During your times of trial and suffering, when you saw only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.”
Beverly was preceded in death by her mother, Lillian Switzer; and one son, Shawn Vickers.
She is survived by her loving husband, David Vickers; son, Michael Vickers (Marcia); grandchildren, Nicole Vickers, Michael Vickers, Jr., and Siena Vickers; brother, Charl “Chick” Switzer (Delores); as well as other cherished family and friends.
Visitation for Beverly will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Mobile, with a Mass of Christian Burial immediately following. Interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
