Billie Eugene Harrison

Billie Eugene Harrison ("Bill") passed away on March 23 in Mobile, AL, having moved there in 2017 from Jackson, MS. He was born in Moorhead, MS, on November 10, 1930, to Charles A. Harrison and Mary Elba Smith Harrison. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nan Eleanor Crouch Harrison,

and his daughter Joy Harrison Moore. He is survived by his wife Cyndie Tollison Harrison, his son Michael of Ridgeland, MS (children Cade and Reagan), his son Andrew of Seattle, WA (fiancee Robin), and his step-daughter Abby (husband, Lee Waller, children John, Mary Douglas, and Tolly) and his sister Lillian Poston of Bartlett, TN.

He graduated from Millington High School (TN) in 1948 and then, with his best friend at his side, joined the Navy and served aboard the USS Bonhomme Richard during the Korean War.

In 1952 Bill began a successful career with Delta Airlines when the business, in its infancy, was known as Chicago and Southern. His positions with Delta took him from Memphis, to Chicago, to New York City, and finally to Jackson, MS, where he retired in 1988 as head of passenger service.

One of Bill's proudest accomplishments in Jackson was helping to organize Northeast Jackson Soccer Organization. In 1978, after studying soccer games on Mississippi ETV, he coached the Spann Bearcats to an undefeated season.

He was very active in the Episcopal Church, both at St. Philip's and at St. James' as a lay-reader and a vestryman and an EFM graduate.

Bill was a good, good man, who far exceeded his responsibilities to his family. All who knew and loved him were certain of his goodness.

His family greatly appreciates the care he received at Springhill Medical Center and Saad Hospice. According to his wishes, Bill's ashes will be inurned in the columbarium at All Saints Episcopal Church in Mobile.
