Major B. Fleek (Retired) age 95, formerly of Mobile, Alabama passed away in Gulf Shores, Alabama on Thursday, February 20, 2025. He is preceded in death by his parents Bluford P. and Rose Linda (Bolte) Fleek, sister’s Rosalind Larkin and Mary Ann Calme, brother Thomas Fleek, his loving wife Barbara K. Fleek and son William E. Fleek.
Major Fleek was born in Erlanger, Kentucky on August 24, 1929. He graduated from St. Henry Catholic High School in 1947. He graduated with a B.A. degree in 1952 from Thomas More University in Ft. Mitchell, KY.
Major Fleek started his career in 1949 with American Airlines in Cincinnati, OH. He was a member of the U.S. Navy Reserves from May 1947 until August 1951. He entered the United States Air Force in February of 1953 until retirement in September 1975. His service included flying Fixed wing and Rotary wing aircraft with an accumulative flight time of 7,000 hours. He was a Professor of Aerospace Studies (AFROTC), University of St. Thomas, Minneapolis, MN for three years, Commander Air Force Rescue Unit Thule Air Base, Greenland from 1970-71 and War Plans Officer at Ramstein Air Base, Germany from 1963-1966.
He first came to Mobile, AL in 1954-1956 and was assigned to Military Air Transport Service (MATS) at Brookley Air Force Base. Once retired he returned to Mobile, AL in 2000. After his retirement he attended Gulf Coast Community College and received his A.S. in Real Estate. He worked from 1975-1999 with the Deltona Corporation and Century 21 before retiring again.
Major Fleek attended Our Savior Catholic Church in Mobile, AL where he was a 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus, Council 11366, Trustee and Chancellor and 4th Degree Knight of Columbus Assembly 2918 Admiral. He also attended St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church in Foley, AL.
Major Fleek is survived by his children, Michael J. Fleek (Sandra), Cheryl A. Robinson (Gary), and Christopher G. Fleek (Jeannie). His six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive him.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025 from St. Thomas by the Sea Catholic Church, Orange Beach, AL beginning at 10:00 a.m. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until service time.
Inurnment will take place at a later date at the Alabama State Veterans Cemetery, Spanish Fort, Alabama.
