Calvin Edward Dykes, Jr.

Mr. Dykes was a retired Railroad Engineer for CSX Railroad retiring in 1999 after 43 years of service. He was a charter member of West Mobile Baptist Church where he served as a greeter and always carried a peppermint for the children, and a member of the BLE Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. He was mechanically inclined, he loved to fish and hunt. He was service oriented and loved interacting with people. Mr. Dykes was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin Edward and Evelyn Lumley Dykes, Sr.; a sister, Marsha Lee Dykes and a brother-in-law, William E. Morgan.

Surviving is his loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Glenda Henderson Dykes; a son, Gregory Scott Dykes and a daughter, Kelly Dykes (Charlie Patrick) Evans; grandchildren, Crystal Kay (James Roy) Galloway, III. and Jessica Jernigan (Jeremy Scott) Herring; great grandchildren, Elijah Cannon Galloway, Kali Jai Herring, Lucas Scott Herring and James Thomas Herring; a sister, Virginia D. Morgan and a brother, George Wesley (Judy) Dykes also, survived by other relatives and friends.

Visitation for Mr. Dykes will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2020 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at West Mobile Baptist Church, 7501 Airport Blvd, Mobile, AL. Funeral Service will be held in the church at 11:00 a.m. with interment following at Pine Crest Cemetery West, Mobile, Alabama.
