Ed was born in Long Beach, Mississippi to Carl Lacy, Sr. (deceased) and Virginia Lacy. He has two siblings, Ron Lacy and Cindy Lacy Stephens. He was a graduate of Long Beach High School and furthered his education at Southern Mississippi University. Ed pursued a music career, where he became a rock and jazz drummer, along with being a vocalist for several groups. Also, he taught drum lessons for upcoming musicians.
Ed’s groups were based out of New Orleans, Louisiana. During one of the groups engagements, as the headliner band for a telethon, in Gadsden, Alabama, he met his wife, Dianne. Two years later they were married and set up residence in New Orleans. Ed and Dianne have three children, Benita and husband Gene, Dwight and wife Wendy, and Joshua and wife Virginia. They have 8 grandchildren, Taylor and wife Carol Anne, Madi, Evan and Neil Bussell, Tyler Bridges and wife Regina, Jonah Lacy, Claire and Lydia Lacy, and one great granddaughter, Anna Catherine and one great grandson arriving soon.
It was while living in New Orleans, his wife Dianne, would become a follower of Christ; and as Ed often stated, “He was living with a different woman, and he didn’t like it.” However, two years later, Ed would also surrender his life to the Lord Jesus Christ; and he indeed became a new creation. He left the music career behind and then had a deep desire to passionately and purposefully follow Christ. In 1983, God called Ed into the gospel ministry as an Evangelist. For over 38 years, Ed has been faithful to equip the saints and preach the gospel to the lost around him. His ministry has reached around the world. He has preached in churches around the United States and trained pastors and church-planters in the countries of Cuba, Kenya, India, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, Mexico, Uganda, Mozambique, Romania, Russia, Ukraine, and Ecuador. He was involved in prison ministries, and ongoing outreaches to Christian drug & rehab centers. One of his greatest joys was to disciple men one on one through the teaching of God’s word and giving those same men opportunities to practically live out these same truths, just like he was discipled by faithful followers of Christ. Ed authored workbooks, tracts and other materials which are being used all over the world in the training of pastors. These materials have been translated into many different languages. Ed was faithful in all his life duties, as the godly leader of his home. He was a hardworking, loving husband, nurturing father, doting grandfather, trusted friend and a loyal servant to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A life well lived, and he will be greatly missed by all.
May we all be found faithful to live as Ed taught, to strive to “Do God’s Work, God’s Way’s for God’s Glory!”
