

Caroline Porch Hawkins, 75, a native of Gadsden, AL, a former resident of Tuscaloosa and Brewton, residing in Mobile passed away peacefully Monday, July 22, 2024. Caroline was preceded in death by her husband Wilson Maxwell Hawkins Jr, her parents Carolyn DuPre Porch and Donald Gilbert Porch, and her granddaughter Lillian Adele Crowe. She is survived by her brothers Dr. Donald Gilbert Porch Jr and Brooks Liles Porch; her children Thomas Edward McMillan III (Susanne), Lucile McMillan Ladd (Patrick), Wilson James Hawkins, Priscilla Anne Hawkins Crowe; her grandchildren Mary Coley McMillan, Caroline Lucile McMillan, Thomas Edward McMillan IV, Caroline DuPre Ladd, Patrick Benton Ladd Jr, Louise McMillan Ladd, Charles Maxwell Polasky, Benton Matthew Polasky; great granddaughter Annie Kate Polasky and many nieces and a nephew.
Caroline graduated from the University of Alabama with a bachelor’s degree in English and was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, where she made many lifelong friends.
Her main passions in life were God, family, and friends. Serving the Episcopal Church provided her great joy and included roles such as the Alter Guild of St. Stephens in Brewton, AL, and the Vestry, Stephen’s Ministry, and Flower Guild of St. Paul’s in Mobile, AL. Her greatest honor was leading the needlepoint kneeler project for St. Paul’s altar.
Affectionately known as Mimi, time spent with her grandchildren was the highlight of her life. Summers at Camp Mimi will never be forgotten. Furthermore, Mimi “the queen” will be fondly remembered for being a genuine friend, skillfully playing bridge, and beautifully entertaining at her home, “The Pink Party Palace.”
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Sharon Markow, Laticia Wilkins, and the WillowBrooke Court Skilled Care Center at Westminster Village for their devotion and excellent care to Caroline.
A visitation will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Thursday, July 25, at 1 p.m., followed by a celebration of life service at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at “The Pink Party Palace.”
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 4501 Old Shell Road, Mobile, Alabama 36608.
