Catherine Anastasia Lear Argiro, 98, passed away in Daphne, AL on Thursday, June 21, 2018. She was born to Alfred and Catherine Lear on March 24, 1920, the youngest of four children. Mrs. Argiro was a hairdresser for decades, as well as a housewife. She was a devout Catholic, and active in the Our Lady of Lourdes Parish for over fifty years – at one point attending daily Mass. She loved to cook for her family, and loved crafting, especially painting. Catherine loved going to the VFW with her friends to socialize and dance. SHE LOVED DANCING. She enjoyed going to Mardi Gras balls with her late husband, attending up to ten a year. Catherine fiercely loved her family. She loved being a grandmother, and enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren after school. Catherine is greatly loved and will be missed.
Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, August E. Argiro; and her son, Michael Joseph Kelley.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Matt) Jakubowski; six step-children, Jeanette (Mike) Stanberry, Chris Klein, Vivian (Sid) Teachey, Bo (Steph) Argiro, Ernie (Terri) Argiro, and Mike (Debbie) Argiro; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-six great-grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, with a Mass of Christian Burial immediately following. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery on Dauphin Island Parkway.
