Catherine Favre

A native of New Orleans and a resident of Mobile for the past 72 years died on Sunday, February 21, 2016. Catherine, a devout Catholic, was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church. Ms. Favre was the wife of the late William R. "Ruddy" Favre, Jr. She is survived by her two daughters and son-in-law, Laura Hicks and Mr. and Mrs. David L. Bender, Sr. (Deborah). Catherine was pre-deceased by her son, William Rudolph Favre, III, her sister, Marilyn Cottrell, and her parents, Donald and Florie Percy. "Mema" loved spending time with her grandchildren whom she loved and adored: David Bender, Jr. (Khaki), Benton Bender, William Bender, Catherine Hicks (San Francisco) and Caroline Hicks (Cape Town, South Africa). Catherine is also survived by one adored great-grandchild, Mary Katherine Bender. Catherine was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dear friend. Catherine was a true beauty inside and out. She graduated from Visitation Academy and attended St. Mary's Dominican College in New Orleans. Upon her return to Mobile, she was crowned the Sweetheart of Spring Hill College. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016 from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. at St. Ignatius Catholic Church. Funeral Services will begin at 10:00 a.m., with Reverend Bry Shields officiating. Interment will be immediately afterwards at Pine Crest Cemetery on Dauphin Island Parkway. The family requests in lieu in flowers that memorials be made to St. Ignatius Church, 3704 Springhill Avenue, Mobile, Alabama 36608
