Celia R. Mackey

Celia graduated from Vigor High School in 1954 and then from Mobile School of Nursing in 1959. She worked as a Registered Nurse for over 50 years. For 10 years she worked in the Labor and Delivery department at Mobile Infirmary and the remaining years she worked for different OBGYN doctors, ending her career with Dr. Benjamin Busby. After retiring she loved to travel, paint, spend time at the beach and being with her family and friends. Celia was also an active member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter H. Mackey Sr., Son, Walter H. Mackey, Jr., father, Allen Rosier, mother, Josephine Trader Rosier, Sisters: Edna Hooper, Valeria Brown, Jeanette Schatz and Brother: Allen L. Rosier and longtime friend Wade Holloway.

She is survived by her loving Daughter-in-Law, Nancy Lamberth Mackey, Granddaughter, Crystal Moorer Richardson and Great Grandson Keaton Richardson, nieces, nephews and long-time best friend Ann Sewell whom she loved like a sister.

Pallbearers will be Michael Sharp, Pete Peterson, Jeremy Howell and Bill Meyer.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery at 1 p.m.
