Charles William Bethea

Charles William Bethea – Formerly of Foley, AL died August 18, 2011 after a lengthy illness. Mr. Bethea was born December 1, 1933 in Brewton, AL. He was a graduate of W. S. Neal School in East Brewton and Auburn University. He was one of the first employees with American Cyanamid Company in Pace, FL. He received several outstanding awards in Sales & Marketing with American Cyanamid. After retiring, he started his own business in Auburn, AL specializing in research and development. Mr. Bethea moved to Foley in 1994. He was a member of the Questors Sunday School class at Foley United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, boating and relaxing near the water. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marion E. Bethea; three children, Charles Steven (Katherine) Bethea of Mobile, Cynthia Lea Rice of Lincoln, NE, Andrew Earl (Renita) Bethea of Castleberry, AL; two brothers, Basil (Sally) Bethea, Jr. of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, Kenneth (Rebecca) Bethea of Brewton, AL; one sister Ann (Waylon) Peevy of Brewton, AL; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Memorial Service will be held at the Foley United Methodist Church on Saturday, August 27, 2011. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. with service following at 2:00. Although the family will gratefully accept flowers, it is suggested that memorial contributions may be made to the Spirit Center Foley United Methodist Church or to The Salvation Army.
