Dr. Charles Lunsford Chambliss
November 20, 1930 – August 5, 2022

Dr. Charles Lunsford Chambliss, age 91, of Mobile entered into rest on August 5, 2022. Visitation will be at Pine Crest Funeral Home, August 11, 2022, on Dauphin Island Parkway at 10:00 AM followed by a graveside service at Pine Crest Cemetery at 11:00 AM.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marilyn O’Gwynn Chambliss of Mobile, AL; Sons; Charles Lunsford Chambliss Jr. (Ann Hecker) of Mobile, AL, John Coleman Chambliss (Karin Murphy) of Mobile, AL, Jeffrey O’Gwynn Chambliss (Emily Bowman) of Orange Beach, AL and Clifton Scott Chambliss of Mobile, AL; Grandchildren; Marilyn Ann McElroy (Ryan), Charles Lunsford Chambliss III, Joseph Patrick Chambliss, Jeffrey O’Gwynn Chambliss Jr. (Sydney), John Bowman Chambliss, Carolyn Delaney Chambliss, Mary Coleman Chambliss, Caroline Ann Chambliss, Mary Elizabeth Chambliss, and Sarah Margaret Chambliss; Brother; Harold W. Chambliss (Linda) of Atlanta, GA; Nieces; Leigh O’Gwynn, Rebecca Lane; Nephew; John Coleman O’Gwynn IV. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Grover Lunsford Chambliss of Greenville, AL; Son; Harold Todd Chambliss (Ann Mattox) of Fairhope, AL; Nephew; Harold W Chambliss Jr. (Hal).
Dr. Charles was raised in the Baptist Church in Greenville, AL. He learned to play the clarinet and found a love for jazz music. After graduating from UAB Dental School, he served our country for two years as a Naval officer on the U.S.S. Antietam. Upon completion of his military service, he moved to Mobile, AL where he met the love of his life, Marilyn O’Gwynn. He established his orthodontic practice in Mobile, AL and Brewton, AL.
Albert Einstein said, ‘if you look deep into nature then you will understand everything better.’ Dr. Charles loved fishing, hunting, golfing, and family. He was a compassionate and God loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and friends.
