Charles Alton “Charlie” Long, born in Mobile, AL died at home in Irvington on Sunday. He was a longtime employee of ADDSCO and retired as a Marine Inspector for the Federal Government. Mr. Long was a Army veteran having served in Viet Nam and was a longtime Mason and an active member of George U. Potter Lodge #912, F&AM. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles A. Long, Sr. and two brothers, Tommy and Jerry Long. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jacqueline Roberts Long; his daughter, Victoria (James III) Gaston; two grandchildren, Jamey and JaeAnna Gaston; his mother, Lillian Day; three sisters, Bobbie Tillman, Dot Evans and Kay Previto and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at 4 PM in the Chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family request that in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the City of Mobile Animal Center.
