I know this is years later but I believe this is my great uncle Chuck. I met him as a child years ago in San Diego CA. He would come visit and bring all the fixings for gumbo. My grandmother is Fern Maxime Chappell. She passed in March of 1999. My mother is Candace Chappell Woolery and passed in 1991. Can someone please verify this is the same person. I would love to hear from someone.

I have no idea what made me decide to 'google' Chuck's name today.  I was saddened to read of his passing and I am sorry I didn't know sooner.  I  lived with Bob and Phyllis from 3 to 8 years old.  I remember going out to the cabin at Spirtwood Lake and being very intimidated by this big man with the booming voice.  I remember all of you coming out to the farm and 'us kids' spending time having watermelon seed spitting contests, plunkin' gophers and just enjoying time together.  I most fondly remember Chuck for the Love and Support after Uncle Bob died.  I should have made the decision before leaving Jamestown to stay in touch but I didn't, for that I am sorry.  I may not be a blood relative but I never felt that way as a child.  Thank you all for that.

Coach Maxmie was one of my favorite coaches, my sincere condolences to his family.Coach taught me not to take of my helmet during practice and if you did when you put it back on it would be full of chewing tobacco. Coach was my homeroom Teacher from '58-'61 and was a positive influence to me and many more students at Murphy High School. My sincere condolences to the family.

To all the Maxime Family, our love and sympathy.  We have fond memories of the back yard neighbors of so many years. Mr. Maxime was as gentle as he looked tough. While he leaves a  void in your life, I am sure he leaves you with a heart full of wonderful memories to comfort you.

Uncle Chuck has always been such a presence. There are so many memories of Uncle Chuck, Aunt Elaine, and the Maxime boys at Spiritwood Lake.

I never met Uncle Chuck, but there has not gone by a Spiritwood visit without the Sayler (adult)kids telling stories of the Maximes.

My deepest condolences go out to you, Aunt Elaine, Steve, David, Ronnie, Billy and families.  I have many fond memories of Uncle Chuck supervising various Spiritwood Lake cabin projects.  I can still hear his booming voice calling us early one morning to get a move-on and get started with tearing off three layers of old rolled roofing.  He coached us through the entire project and after a little blood; sweat and tears the boys got it done.  Steve, I’m sure you remember the painting project and the moving of the air compressor…and dust under the rug.  And now for the first time, I will miss his snoring in the cabin at night.  My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of loss.  He was truly a special man with a big teddy bear heart.

I extend my deepest sympathy to all the Maxime family.The coach was a true gentleman and a great teacher both on and off the football field.I benefited greatly from his friendship and the value of hard work that he instilled in me.

I extend my sincere and deepest condolences to the MAXIME Family.  I am today, in material part, what Coach taught me as athlete-student at Murphy.  He influenced thousands of kids in a most favorable way.

My condolences to the Maxime family, the coach and i go all the way back to Southern little league, he and my dad helped start the program behind springdale mall and gave me a life time of treasures, Coach you taught me to never give up and keep fighting through the hard times,and i passed these lessons on to my sons..thank you Coach you will be missed dearly..

Coach taught me many life lessons during my time under his leadership at MHS from 1971 to 1975.  The most important lesson that I've never forgotten was to never quit.  It didn't matter how big the guy in front of me was - he could be whupped - at least Coach had me believing that every down.

My condolences to all the family - I've thought of Coach Maxime on many occasions throughout the years!

I loved this man.  My parents absolutely adored the man.  He could be a pain the butt to play for because one was forced to view one's performance through the eyes of a professional (one who laid everything on the line and prepared to repeat the process time and again).  One's only saving grace with Coach was the man was totally fair and his harshest words were spoken as a matter of conversation. Heaven's roster now has a true champion - and an Auburn man, at that!  Coach, "War Damn Eagle!"

Mrs. Elaine, Steve, Billie, David and Ronnie my heart goes out to you during this time.  Remember the good times and share them often.  I will remember his gruff voice and the many Thanksgivings we shared together.  He will be greatly missed by all.

This saddens me greatly. Coach Maxime impacted my life as young man when I needed it most. He is dear to my heart and as I journey through my life I often think of him. Just last Monday night when AU won its second national championship, my thoughts went to Coach Maxime and a picture of him from the 1957 team. When I played for him at Murphy (1973-77), we had this book we passed around the locker room with a picture of Coach sitting with his teammates. He was smiling, missing a tooth and still playing. We thought wow…if we could just be that good….that tough.  He taught us to be tough, to be fair and how to win. Most importantly, he taught us how to win with class. He was a wonderful influence and coach to me and most likely hundreds if not a thousand or more men and women. Coach Maxime wasn’t just a football coach he was a great life coach! The lessons I learned from Coach Maxime help carry me through life even today. We've lost a great one and he’ll be loved and truly missed in this world. Thanks Coach.

My father loved Coach Maxime like a brother
and they were the dearest of friends,he could not be in better company now.They will have much to talk about,so many stories
to tell.We all will miss him so.

I had the pleasure of knowing this wonderful man for a long as I can remember. My father while working at Murphy introduced me. I have several memories of him, the best one is the year that Coach took it upon himself to bring us a Christmas tree. Imagine our surprise when we put it up there was a birds nest in it and if I remember right it had eggs still in it. I will always remember that. Also, he was my security when I worked at Pillans Middle School, he was there every day with me making me feel safe. I will miss him. I know that now my father will be in good company. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Paw Paw, I will miss you. We all will. I will never forget the first time I met you. You took to me and my mother as if we had been apart of that family from the very first day. I personally will never forget Mr Wickers! Mylee was asking about you yesterday. She knows when we go to Nannas she gets to go see her Paw Paw and make funny faces with him :) I wish we could have had more talks together, another lesson to be learned from such a great man. 
For Ryan Sr., Myself, Ryan, Alyssa, and Mylee, we will miss you, you will always be in our thoughts and prayers. And just for you...WAR EAGLE!
