He was born on October 1, 1935 in Mobile, Alabama. He was a graduate of Murphy High School and had received a masters degree in Criminology from Troy University . He served in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged. He then joined the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve until retirement in 1985. He spent twenty years with the Mobile County Police Department and retired as a Captain in 1991. He is remembered best for being a loving husband and a wonderful father and friend.
Charles is survived by his wife, Lynne A. Summers and five daughters Donna Sterban (Richard), Annette Kirby (Jimmy), Mary Hall (Tommy), Rachal Blocker (Darren), Michelle Schoensiegel (Ahren). He is also survived by his twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Bettie Williamson and bother Frank E. Summers, Jr. and his son Jon Sutton.
A committal service for Charles will be held Friday, April 5, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Alabama State Veterans Cemetery, 34904 Al- 225, Spanish Fort, AL 36577.
