Charlie F. Kinsaul of Daphne, Alabama passed away Sunday, June 17, 2018. He was 90 years old. He was born September 7, 1927 to Charles L. Kinsaul and Louise Rogers Kinsaul in Panama City, Florida. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Barbara (Bobbie) Walker Kinsaul. He is survived by his two sons, Michael D. (Marie) Kinsaul and Daniel H. (Shirley) Kinsaul of Daphne, Alabama, and two grandchildren, Brittany (Cody) Gilbert and Travis Kinsaul, and great-grandson Grayson Gilbert. He is also survived by his siblings Peggy Kinsaul Tacon, Ross (Carol) Kinsaul and Jean (Reggie) Copeland, as well as many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by sister-in-law Diane Walker.
Charlie grew up in Mobile where he graduated from Murphy High School and attended the University of Alabama. Charlie was a veteran of the Korean War. After returning from Korea, Charlie entered Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning. After graduating from OCS, Charlie served with the Alabama National Guard for many years. At the time of his retirement from the Guard, he had attained the rank of Colonel and was Commandant of the 161st Medical Battalion.
After retiring from the National Guard he joined and attained the rank of Brigadier General with the Alabama State Defense Force.
In his civilian life, Charlie was Assistant Manager of the Mobile Auditorium. He left Mobile and was hired by the City of Montgomery to oversee the construction of the Montgomery, Alabama Civic Center and after completion of the project Charlie served as the Director for many years.
Upon retirement from the City of Montgomery, he and Bobbie returned to South Alabama and settled in Daphne. They were long time members of First Baptist Church of Mobile.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 20, 2018 from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile, with a chapel service immediately following. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
