Charlotte was born on November 5, 1965, in Portsmouth, VA to a career naval man, Lorenzo G. French, Jr. and Barbara King Timmer. She grew up in Jacksonville and upon high school graduation became a Florida Gator. Graduating with a BS in Zoology and acquiring a Master’s degree in Science Education before taking a job teaching at Hawthorne Jr-Sr High in Alachua County. This job allowed her to cross paths with W. Kyle Hearn and within two years they married in August of 1992, leaving for Kansas in the spring of 1993. Once they had children, they moved back to Florida to be near family. Together they raised two children, their pride and joy, a son, James (JT) and a daughter Kathryn.
Charlotte had a passion for the church, First Baptist of Astor, and was active in her choir and a faithful supporter of youth and children’s programs. She lent unwavering support to her husband and 100’s of middle and high school students as well as both of her children through the FFA over the years.
Her career started in HS classrooms but lead to adult basic education and evolved into Work Force Development. She was certified in NAWDP (National Association Work Force Development Professional) starting as part of the original group to earn these credentials and went on to become a National Board Member presenting at National conferences and conducting credentials reviews for new members.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her brother Lorenzo G. French, III.
Charlotte is survived by her husband W. Kyle Hearn; son James (JT) Hearn (Erica Egner and Gavin); daughter Kathryn Hearn; her father Lorenzo G French, Jr. (Mary Lee); her mother Barbara King Timmer; sister Monique French; and Sister-in-Law Amanda French.
Charlotte desires flowers for which can be sent to Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home, DeLand, FL or to Radney’s Funeral Home, Dauphin Street, Mobile, AL. The family also desires that family and friends go and make a blood donation in the coming weeks in Charlotte’s name. Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home-Mobile on Thursday, June 16, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Funeral services will be held in the Oakleigh Chapel of the funeral home beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Magnolia Cemetery. A reception will be held at the funeral home following the burial.
