Mr. Johnson was born September 21, 1963 to George E. Johnson and Barbara C. Johnson. He graduated from John S. Shaw High School in 1981. He married his loving wife, Tammy Hartley Johnson, on February 24, 1984, and celebrated 37 wonderful years together. He has three daughters, who were his pride and joy, Jessica Mosley (son-in-law, Chaz), Anna Fisher, Elizabeth Swinney (son-in-law, Stephen). He was a Grandfather, better known as Papa or Poppy, to five grandchildren, Braxton Brettel, Collin Fisher, Lillie Ann Fisher, Rowan Fisher, and Abigail Swinney.
Chris lived life to the very fullest. He loved spending time with his family and vacationing with family and friends. You could often find him at the ballpark watching his grandsons play baseball or watching sports on TV, like Alabama Football or the Braves. He enjoyed hosting cookouts and gatherings, as well as holidays, at his home with those he loved. He always had a joke to tell or a prank to pull. He was selfless, never hesitating to lend a helping hand or offer advice or encouragement when called upon. He was a handy-man, a jack of all trades, and used these gifts to bless others. Chris was generous, selfless, hard-working, and loved big.
Chris loved the Lord and served him faithfully his entire life. He was an active member of Orchard Assembly of God Church and helped and served there when needed. Chris never met a stranger and always made everyone feel like family. This included even in his final days and weeks that he spent at Springhill Medical Center. He made an impact at the hospital with the nurses and medical staff, and he received the very best care from them.
Christopher began his career as an electrician working with his father. In 1995, he began working with American Cyanamid until it was acquired by Cytec, and then later Solvay, where he finished his career after 26 years, working very hard up until his recent illness. Chris’ coworkers and colleagues describe him as a larger than life character, hard-working and extremely passionate about his job and the business. He contributed greatly to the business, helped shape the global supply chain team, and would always go out of his way to help and support his colleagues. Some of his main achievements include recent contributions to the SAP implementations, as well as setting up the first distribution network for Cytec Specialty Chemicals. Chris had a unique ability to build relationships with his teammates and was involved in working with all plants globally when called upon.
He is preceded in death by his father, George E. Johnson. He is survived by his mother (Barbara C. Johnson), wife (Tammy H. Johnson), daughters (Jessica Mosley (Chaz), Anna Fisher, Elizabeth Swinney (Stephen)), grandchildren (Braxton Brettel, Collin Fisher, Lillie Ann Fisher, Rowan Fisher, and Abigail Swinney) and many other family and friends.
